Yes, all or most homes in the UK are issued with recycle bins which they HAVE to use properly for plastic bottles, paper, cardboard, foil etc.
I think recycling is VERY good, what is the point of wasting the earth's resources if they can be used again, and it avoids landfill sites.

We have a brown bin for food waste (my mum as two as she puts the teabags and eggshells in the garden), a green bin and a blue bin (plastics, cans and cardboard) and lastly, the non-recyclable waste. 4 freaking bins! And different collection days and times. It can get logistically messy.
It can be a hassle but it's okay as long as they actually recycle the stuff and it doesn't all end up in the same landfill :|
