another weight loss help thread

So like I had a baby 16 weeks ago and would like some real help and advice to lose the 2 stones I put on ouch…

Anyone had any real success I can’t do slimmin clubs as it really doesn’t fit in with the foods we eat ?!!

cut way back on on the desi ghee to where you're putting close to none of it in your dishes. olive oil is a lot more healthy

if you're breast feeding i've heard that breast feeding actually helps in weight loss.................right? somebody that knows please tell me if i'm correct in my assumption

just some simple things, like instead of rice eat roti and cut out all the junk food like cookies, cake, chips and try to substitute them for snacks that are tasty but less fattening.

i am not sure after how many weeks it's safe for you to do tummy exercises and workouts but simple walking on the treadmill for 30 mins should start you out

look up the smoothie that carolina kurkova drank when she was trying lose weight. I made it as well and it really helped me, the recipe i put up is in one of the threads nadz123 had started when she had opened a thread with the same topic

i found it again but in mine i usually don’t put the kale and chard in a big amount and the spinach can’t even be tasted when mixed in with the fruit, put in any fruit in my fridge in addition to the apple** and a scoop of whey protein which is a fat burner and that is the important ingredient for me that worked in taking the pounds off b4 my workout routine…ask your doctor if it’s ok for you especially if you’re breast feeding. always consult a doc before trying anything new.
Ingredients:**
Spinach
Kale
Chard
Apple
Lemon
Ginger
Parsley

Directions:
Juice all the items and combine. The combination should be heavy on the kale, spinach and chard, light on the apple, ginger, lemon and parsley. Drink at least once a day – or even better, twice a day, the first one for breakfast.

take your time, don't worry too much. Make a long term plan of a year or so and just start eating healthier.

i needed to lose 10 pounds and my goal weight for my height was 123 pounds and i reached it but i didn't do any of that crash diet, temporary weight loss fad diets and actually took a healthy view towards food where i made desi food but i made it so the taste was enhanced with all the yummy masala but the chicken or fish wasn't drenched in ghee, it took me a couple months b/c i didn't have a very healthy diet before but now this weight is going to stay because now i have more vegetables, fruits, healthy chicken,salmon, low fat snacks in my diet and when i'm forced to eat the fattening desi food for a weekend when i'm at a party or whatever my body always craves the workout, the loads of water and the healthy food the next day especially the vegetables and fruits

it took a while but it's permanent now and i'm at my goal weight

in terms of the whey protein shake, it gave me a loads of energy to do an hour workout, for me it accelerated the weight loss when it looked like it wasn't going down even when i exercised(in the beginning)and i found a way to get raw greens into my body without tasting them(the fruit masked the taste)

Nisha, can you tell us more about whey protein? I have been meaning to start taking it but have heard so many times, NOT everyone needs it?

^you can google “whey protein fat burner”, it depends on how many scoops of the powder you put, for me it was only 1 small scoop since i was only looking to lose weight

Hi I have gained 5kg and really want to lose it fast. would appreciate it, if any of you share any recipe/tip/ help about losing that fat.

^read my previous posts for tips and in terms recipes, it’s the same recipes as any other normal desi dish, like if you’re making baked salmon in the oven, marinate it with all the usual spices, garlic, ginger but cut out the oil or butter that you usually put in. I usually put in loads of veges too so i don’t crave rice with it.

i usually eat grapes after a workout, i personally need some type of sweet nourishment…keeps my energy up

i come from a desi family so tea time snacks were always something we had to have, so during tea time, it’s the low fat snacks like goldfish crackers-i get to satisfy my cheese craving with that and it’s really doesn’t have as many calories as other snacks wih your tea(I usually put splenda or equal as sweetener instead of sugar)…try those 100 calorie snack packs too

try to eat salads more(not drenched in salad dressing though) and i usually put baked chicken, tunafish, or boiled egg with all the veges and a tiny bit of ranch dressing…here’s a tip put in some of those flavor packs like the http://www.mccormick.com/Products/Seasoning-Mixes/Dips/Ranch-Dip-Mix.aspx type packets…the taste of your salad is enhanced and you feel like putting only a little bit of that fattening dressing as a result

make sure to not even buy all the junk food including chocolates, out of sight out of mind, i totally go by that b/c for me that whole idea of a little bit of chocolate every day doesn’t hurt concept does not work, i would end up eating a lot more than a little

oh and get someone positive around you to give you encouragement, like one of my guy friends always makes me feel so wonderful. don’t depend on it but it does help you feel great as you keep losing weight
