Something like this is almost impossible to avoid, unless you forcibly depopulate and bulldoze all the urban areas that lie under the approach path to the airport and turn it into a flat, controlled zone that nobody can enter. This would require tens or hundreds of thousands of people to be relocated…

My main fear is that such as attack is so easy to carry out in any Pakistani city that you may well see it reoccurring!

When there is a will, there is a way.
for example, intelligence gathering in the area around airports should be increased.

Such attacks will remain easy if no corrective actions are taken.
