ok i can understand one small game on the playstation but i just don't understand how some or most men can spend the whole day parked in front of the playstation playing war-something.....what's the name of that game that's pretty popular.

being out in the fresh air and spending time with their gf/wife/fiance or going out for a weekend getaway just seems more productive. not saying all their time should be spent with her but hours with the ps3 doesn't make sense. oh men or women(that play ps3 all day) tell me the reasoning behind that then maybe i'll understand it too. not criticizing just trying to get inside a man's head.

Its called Call Of Duty

Little bit over rated game.and its played more on xbox 360 then ps3.killzone 3 is going to release for ps3 in couple of days expect more people to play this game
i spend more time on games like Mass Effect :P

Her conclusion and path to conclusion has few flaws and even the title of the reference "

....is debatable.

and what's the reasoning behind playing that the whole day. see i can play one game and try to beat the bad guy and lose then give up and do something more interesting but why the whole day playing something that is just a game afterall. does it somehow reduce stress. but even that doesn't make sense b/c some men really get into it and get pissed if they lose and go at it yet again. my bro's like that. tell me please tell me

Its depends on genre there are defferent genre like fps,rpgs/jrpgs,action/adventure e.t.c

Most of the general americans play fps(that too multiplayer) games like call of duty ,halo(awesome game) e.t.c and 70 percent of this guys are noobs.you won't enjoy this multiplayer game unless you start winning matches getting kills.head shots owning people its total competition team slayers,lone wolfs.clan matches,fire fight mode. its so much fun at the same time requires some skill too.end of the day if you keep on dying there won't be any fun.you will only enjoy multiplayer games by winning.also there are many better multiplayers games then call of duty likes of gears of war,killzone 3,team fortess e.t.c most of the hardcore guys play this kind of games

coming next genre single player games.it's for most of the hardcore old school gamers like me. from fps to rpgs/jrpgs to hack and slash.unlike mp games we don't play these gamesdaily,its like when a good single player comes people will play through straight 3 hours a seating.there will be like 3 seatings daily.game can be completed within 2-3 days.1 week max.most of good games comes around september-december.if some good game comes i will go through complete emo mode and complete it in a week.incase of rpgs 2-3 weeks to month. reaming times will be mostly online

sub genre in single player games:

coming to action/adventure genre these games are just like movies.infact better then movies it's like ur watching a 10-20 hours movie(50-60 hours incase of rpgs). this games have awesome story much better then those in movies.gameplay should be fun with awesome set pieces (like the terminator truck jump scene) which gives us wow feeling few examples are uncharted,assassin's creed,Alan wake(brilliant game physiological thriller) you should try this games,i love more old school stuff like half life. then there are games like portal,braid,god of war (you need some brain to solve puzzles).most of hardcore american and europeans play this genre

next genre are western rpgs/japaneese rpgs.probably this games are the best,they have everything from awesome story to superb gameplay.it's like you will be the lead hero(you can customise the charecter). you cane make decisions that will affect further progress into game (fable,mass effect) decisions can be carried to next game.this games are highly addictive gameplay length will be from 30-100 hours.. standard 50 hours most of the american noobs wont like this genre.japs love rpgs.american and european hardcore gamers will play western rpgs. and some small section love jrpgs.and there are MMORPG(Massively multiplayer online role-playing game) people playing this game won't have any (complete) social life :\ ex:world of warcraft

hack and slash/fighting: this games are so hard.u need some skill to beat boss fights. which require to use some special set of combos.its like u feel rewarded after beating a tough boss.which gives you ultimate satisfaction.most of this games will deal with super natural powers.its my fav genre and it has very small community compare to other genres.
ex:ninja gaiden,devil may cry,bayonetta,god of war,darksiders

fighting games are super fun especially when playing on arcade machine.its like two players fighting each other using defferent combos
ex:tekken,soul calibur,street fighter,mortal combact e.t.c

next one is racing there are two types,arcade and simulation,arcade games are like super fast cars.crash
effects,stunts e.t.c,
ex:burnout,nfs

simulation is more like realistic driving like ur driving a ferrari controlls would be exact.you cant even take small damage.u need buy separate driving wheels for this games
ex:gran turismo,forza motorsport

and final music genre games like guitor hero.u need dummy which some buttons,output screen will show some combos fast (red blue green yellow) which we have press on dummy guitor in exact sequence,so correct guitar solo comes ex: rock abnd,dj hero,guitar hero,singstar

finally from what i have seen most of us gamers are single who don't have much social life :P
