Another ruthless murder at the hands of VVIPs of Pakistan

Just wonder where will it stop? Now will this son of VVIP, ex-Minister Siddique Kanjoo, get the punishment or will get away by barely paying blood-money?

And then we wonder what’s wrong with this country.. sigh!

Mustafa Kanju has been sent on an eight-day physical remand by an ATC. ─ DawnNews screengrab

LAHORE: An anti-terrorist court (ATC) on Friday sent Mustafa Kanju, a son of former Minister of Foreign Affairs Siddique Kanju, and four others on an eight-day-long physical remand.
He is accused of killing a 16-year-old orphan Zain and injuring one Hussain, 18.
Kanju was presented in an ATC today under extremely tight security and unauthorised individuals and lawyers with no connection to the case were prevented from entering court premises.
During the hearing, Kanju argued that the fact that he fired shots did not mean they led to Zain’s death. He claimed he was innocent and that the police and the victim’s relatives were conspiring to trap him in the case.
The lawyer of the accused stated that Zain had fallen victim to cross-firing between Mustafa and his ‘opponents’ ─ who have yet to be identified ─ and that Kanju had no personal enmity with Zain.
The ATC handed over Mustafa Kanju, Saadullah, Sadiq Amin, Ikramullah and Muhammad Asif to the police for an eight-day physical remand.
Kanju was arrested on Thursday after a case was registered against him under 7-ATA and Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code. He was accused of killing Zain, a 16-year-old orphan, and injuring Hussain, 18.
A policeman, who claimed to be the first official reaching the spot after the shooting, said on condition of anonymity that Kanju’s car had accidentally collided with another vehicle in the street. He alleged that Kanju, who was accompanied by a girl, was in an inebriated state at the time.
The policeman added that Kanju then came out of the car and started shouting at the female driver, blaming her for the accident. He said some people had gathered there and they tried to convince Kanju it was not the female driver’s fault. This infuriated Kanju, the policeman said, adding that he then called his guards and resorted to ‘aerial firing’ with bullets hitting the two boys.
Sources claimed Kanju’s six security guards were arrested on Wednesday night from his residence in Old Cavalry Ground. Police also recovered empty shells of a gun from the crime scene and later seized the gun used in the incident.
On Thursday, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident, ordered arrest of the suspect and announced Rs0.5m for the family of the deceased. He also assured them that justice would be done.
The DSP concerned claimed he had arrested Kanju from Kahror Pakka, Lodhran district, whereas SSP Investigations Rana Ayaz Salim said Kanju was arrested from Khushab.

Just sick and sad.

Re: Another ruthless murder at the hands of VVIPs of Pakistan

At least the beast was arrested.

Although still very far, but it seems we are taking baby-steps towards some sort of civilization.

Re: Another ruthless murder at the hands of VVIPs of Pakistan

Well done to electronic media for making some serious noise on this case. Good job. This is what we need.

I just don’t understand why CM Punjab had to order the arrest of the suspect? Honestly, how many times have we heard this before? It’s that he what does - watches ARY all day and the moment a case related to Punjab becomes a media highlight, His Majesty quickly orders the arrest as a good PR practice? He thinks he makes himself look good by doing that? No he looks utterly incompetent. Where is Punjab police? What is their job? Seriously, that self absorbed dumbbell has destroyed Punjab police. Honestly, looks like Punjab police cannot even move from one place to another without the orders of this family.

I just hope this killer gets his due punishment and justice is served:

****LAHORE: The AK-47 rifle used to shoot 16-year-old Zain Rauf was registered under son of a former minister Mustafa Kanju’s name, a police official told The Express Tribune on Wednesday.
Earlier on Sunday, Kanju in his statement to the police said although he pulled the trigger, he had no intention of killing anyone.
Another senior police official of the investigation wing told The Express Tribune that a case has been registered against Kanju and his accomplices, including his brother-in-law Rizwan in compliance of Iftikhar, for grabbing a house and abduction.

He added that the investigation wing failed to take action against them then; however, police has now begun with the probe.
“Iftikhar and his family were forced to move abroad but they are returning to Pakistan,” said one of his relatives.

Kanju, the son of former state minister and younger brother of the sitting lawmaker from Lodhran, is accused of resorting to gunfire after a petty argument over a car accident.

Re: Another ruthless murder at the hands of VVIPs of Pakistan

Sadly nothing is going to happen. As soon as the media has another breaking news they will be all over it and will forget about this case and this VVIP will walk away freely. Sad state of affairs in Pakistan.

Well maybe for such high profile accused, it’s an order from cm that give the police enough confidence that they will not come under fire if arrest the criminal.

Re: Another ruthless murder at the hands of VVIPs of Pakistan

You are right, in a country like Pakistan carry a gun and do justice.. Be Judge, jury and executioner… apply this special “LAW” to rich and powerful.

Re: Another ruthless murder at the hands of VVIPs of Pakistan

Pressure wouldnt be involved of course, no need to amend the laws as they are working just fine for the VIP’s of this country.

Re: Another ruthless murder at the hands of VVIPs of Pakistan

I hope that blood money is not involved to make the case go away just the famous incident in karachi couple of years back. Diyat needs a fixed timing like only being valid until a certain time before the start of prosecution or a law should be made that blood money after the case is in trial would be used to at least pay a portion to the courts / police or better yet, make the rich a*holes who try to get away to pay the whole cost of case against them + the blood money.

Right now, this diyat is used by rich to get away and I don’t think this is the basis of islam that money gets you away from punishment.

Re: Another ruthless murder at the hands of VVIPs of Pakistan

seems he will run away without even paying as the witness backed off. a malua jatt is needed to do justice for this case and shahrukh jatoi case.
