To: Govt. of Pakistan
Seraiki is the largest spoken language in Pakistan (first language of more than 45 million people). Seraiki is also the representative language of ancient Indus valley civilization of India-Pakistan.
Seraiki area has been a seperate administrative region for centuries (before the British rule in India) and has a separate cultural identity from Punjabi culture. However after the independence of Pakistan in 1947, Seraiki area was made a part of Punjab province.
Unfortunately, Seraiki area (also called South Punjab) has been severally neglected in last 60 years and no significant work has been done to preserve Seraiki language or culture. There is few or no representation of Seraiki language and culture on the national media (despite the fact that Seraiki is the most widely spoken language in Pakistan). Administratively, Seraiki districts are far away from the capital of Punjab i.e. Lahore and this makes it difficult for the Seraiki people to access the provincial resources.
Punjab is also the largest province in the country and it will be more efficient from adminitrative points of view to divide this large province into two relatively smaller provinces (Seraikistan and upper Punjab).
The objective of this petition is to demand a new province for Seraiki people of Pakistan. Seraikistan will consist of Sargodha, Multan, DG Khan and Bahawalpur divisions (alongwith some adjoining areas of other districts) and Multan will be the provincial capital due to its central location. A separate TV station and introduction of Seraiki language as a complulsory subject in the schools in Seraikistan province are a part of this demand.
We aim to gather 1 million signatures for this petition (including from non-seraiki people who support the idea behind Seraiki province).
Re: Another Province~Seraikistan -Petition to Govt. of Pakistan.

Re: Another Province~Seraikistan -Petition to Govt. of Pakistan.
Funny stats, by the posters of this thread lol... Kehkashan, no one wants a seperate province, no one really gives a damn about seraiki speaking seperate province, if there is to be one, then there needs to be 50,000 other provinces.
Re: Another Province~Seraikistan -Petition to Govt. of Pakistan.
stats may be inaccurate, but I blv Seraiki is indeed largely spoken language in northern parts of Sindh and southern parts of Punjab, so to say 50,000 other provinces would be an over-over-reaction :)
Re: Another Province~Seraikistan -Petition to Govt. of Pakistan.
Harappans were not Dravidians ! There are all kinds of “theories” on the Harappan identity such as being Indo-European, Dravidian, Altaic, Semitic, or even an isolate. As long as the Indus script remains undeciphered, we will not know their true identity. As far as race is concerned, they were a multi-racial people as evident from their body remains excavated and its genetic analysis.
Re: Another Province~Seraikistan -Petition to Govt. of Pakistan.
I support the creation of Seraikistan province..
Actually all current provinces of Pakistan -- a legacy of the British rule -- should be re-demarcated and re-named. They are ethnically incorrect and unfair.
I believe creating/modifying provinces based on ethnic names will only open a pandora box... perhaps non-ethnic names and district-level boundaries would serve the country better
Re: Another Province~Seraikistan -Petition to Govt. of Pakistan.
No they wouldn't. You cannot force ethnic harmony. You have to allow ethnicites to flourish among their own. When everyone is on a level playing field, only then they will respect others.
Re: Another Province~Seraikistan -Petition to Govt. of Pakistan.
Seraikis should have their province many leaders like malik farooq e azam want a seraiki province.hanif ramay and sardar asif support this idea who are not seraikis but punjabi.makhdoom shah mahmood qureshi recently said that he is in favour of a seraiki province discussed in this thread
Re: Another Province~Seraikistan -Petition to Govt. of Pakistan.
Its not the most spoken language. No doubt punjabi is the most spoken language.I think around 10 to 15 percent of the population is seraiki speaking some figures indicate less than 10 percent around 8 percent.
