Another of those Dawat Etiquette questions ..
I love going to dawats, so obviously I had to reciprocate. It is not always about the food, but I tend to go overboard making sure that everything is just right. My hubby says that I am being very formal with fancy serving dishes, etc. it takes me at least 1 week to recover and wash all the dishes. Wish I had servants.....but I noticed that a lot of hosts don't kill themselves. They enjoy the company rather than slaving over the stove. I have started to chill and not go crazy. Bc I hated having parties Bc I wanted everything to be perfect and had to serve a dozen items. It's really about enjoying each other company and if the food is good it makes it that much better .

^ We use fine china too...we have chafing dishes to keep our food warm, but it doesn't take a week to wash the dishes?

Hhhmm...Would aluminum foil work? If so, than get some aluminum foil trays, put the salan in them, and place them in the oven as the guests start arriving. Take them out, cover them with aluminum foil right away. Put them on the table, and take the foil off when the guests are about to attack the food.
And the food does not have to be boiling hot. I think people would enjoy it more if it was already cooled down a bit.
Good luck.
