Re: Another Month, Another Failed Potential Rishta
well everyone has preferences. like, would you or would you not want a guy with a long beard?? up to you na...
on a side note, hijab being mandatory may still be a debate here, but to me, as far as one dresses decently and covers up, it is sufficient. for a start, at least.
Re: Another Month, Another Failed Potential Rishta
Lol, well in response to some of the replies... I agree with the OP that she didn't "need" to tell a potential rishta, key word being potential, that she decided she was going to practice wearing hijab.
For one, it's only been two weeks. And how does someone share that? Call up the other fam and say "oh, btw, since we're still talking about this and nothing is for certain, I thought I'd let you know that my daughter recently decided to start wearing a hijab, masha Allah."
And clearly, reading what she said in the first post, she wasn't wearing a hijab when the families first met. The guy's mother/ fam/ what ever saw her with out it. And she said she decided to start wearing it some time later. If it had to do with the rishta or not shouldn't be a concern. If she decided to practice what Islam teaches, she should be congratulated, if anything. Saying it's her or her families fault that the rishta fell through is a bit ridiculous, I'd say.
Good on you for, OP, deciding to wear a hijab. If another Muslim family can't accept it, then that's for them to answer to. Insha Allah, I hope you find a family and hubby that accepts you for you :)
Re: Another Month, Another Failed Potential Rishta
If hijab is an issue for people they should clarify why it is an issue instead of rejecting girls ever so casually.
No one can guess what was their issue, but many people don't have any real issue but oppose just for the sake of it or heard some dreadful story from someone.
