An Israeli attack on a Lebanese border village killed more than 40 people Monday, Prime Minister Fuad Saniora said. Saniora disclosed the attack in the village of Houla, where heavy ground fighting between Hezbollah guerrillas and Israeli has been raging in recent days in a speech to Arab foreign ministers meeting in Beirut. **“An hour ago, there was a horrific massacre in the village of Houla in which more than 40 martyrs were victims of deliberate bombing,” **he said. Local TV stations had reported that about 40 people were buried under the rubble of houses that collapsed after being targeted by Israeli airstrikes.
Residents of Houla said they feared up to 60 people, including many children, had been killed. They said most of the people were shepherds who had refused to flee the fighting.
Nineteen people were killed in separate strikes on other villages in the south and the eastern Bekaa valley. Speaking before news of the Houla raid, Lebanese Health Minister Mohammad Khalifeh said the war had killed 925 people, mostly civilians, with 75 missing, presumed dead. About one-third of the dead were children under the age of 13, he told Reuters. Ninety-four Israelis have also been killed.

Killing civilians r alright as long as they r arab or muslims, 1 israeli or american r equal to every 100 arabs or muslims, so their lives dont mean much therefore making it alright to kill them. Sick people always find ways to justify killings when they r not israelis. 2 soldiers lives r worth more than 1000 lebanese people.

Frankly, the one sided outrage is getting old. Hizbullah could have avoided this at anytime. Handing back the two kidnapped soldiers would be a start. Think that will happen? Then apparently they care less about the 40 deaths than you do. The Lebanese people are screwed.

They had legitimate reason to report 40 dead, when whole buildings have fall on top of them. There are 50 ppl under the rubble, have by sheer luck and perhaps to the dismay of the IDF, survived this time around. Thank God.

Thank Allah, these people have survived and not met the fate of the hundreds of other civilians (incl disabled kids) that Israel has killed in the last few weeks. No doubt there will bee hundreds of justifications by the pro-Israeli side for killing all those innocent people in Lebanon?

Hezb is not doing anything good by firing at residential areas. What if genuinly Isreal decide to loose its temper and fire indiscriminately just like a terrorist state would do.. you would be counting the dead in thousands.

I dont see the compassion here when terrorist go about killing innocents. And I dont see compassion when Hezb kills unarmed isrealies. And people like Lahore should be taught what compassion means for a change.

It would be a better place all round if Israel had withdrawn from occupied Lebanese territories (Shebaa farms), and released the many thousands of prisoners (people it had kidnapped from Lebanon). Lebanon and Hezbollah waited patiently for 6 years for that to happen before any military actions were started.

^^I can tell you the process for the US military to strike any building. For either the artillery or the Air Force, a document has to be drawn up for the approval to strike a target, or a target area. The form shows the military reason for striking the building, and notes the risks in striking the building. The document has to prescribe the type of weapon to be used, which needs to be large enough to accomplish the task, but not so large as to cause the dreaded collateral damage. Any areas of special caution such as historical sites, religious sites, education facilities and infrastucture must be noted if known. Then this request for a fragmentary order has to be reviewed up the chain of command. Assuming that the appropriate higher officer approves, the the final order is reviewed by an officer from the JAG office (Judge Advocate General, essentially Military lawyers) reviews the order request to see that it is within the Laws of Armed Conflict. Once he approves, then the order can be given. Most NATO organizations follow this same structure.
Do ya think Hezbullah does this before it releases those kaytushas? Or do they just scream Allahu Ahkbar?
