He has history in running the FIA, and is loyal to Zardari and went into self exile to London when the Sharifs came for their 2nd term. Zardari was looking for a loyal buddy of his for that post, and Rahman fits there pretty well, no matter how incompetent he is.

he was the national security advisor under the carter regime during a very strategic time. he also supports obama and was in the news recently where he appreciated obama's approach.

how do you suppose pakistanis can change that? i mean what could a person actually do? i was there in last election, some of the parties are boycotting, some are rejected by authorities and those that were elected were side stepped to make way so that zardari could inherit the PPP by the will of his dead wife. I mean it is ridiculous and nothing to do with people of the country. Our bureacracy is a sham and they run the show not us.
