anniversary

when u had 2 seprate functions with the gap of few months
so what event u celebrate as wedding anniversary nikkah day or rukhsati function?

Re: anniversary

Our Nikah and Rukhsati had a gap of a month or so. We celebrate Rukhsati as our wedding anniversary although you gave me a thought here. Maybe the Nikah day should be our wedding anniversary day.

Re: anniversary

The day you want to.

Most people celebrate both days.

I'd celebrate both days.

Re: anniversary

We had about a 6 month gap between our nikkah and rukhsati date. And about a month's gap between the rukhsati and walima. For anniversary, we celebrate the nikkah. But I know some of my friends celebrate their rukhsati/walima, because thats when felt like they were "really married". I guess it depends on the individual. For us, our nikkah was our marriage, doesnt matter if we were living together right away or not, thats what signified the start of our new life together, so thats what we celebrate. The rest were just technicalities. Sometimes the anniversary date of our rukhsati and walima goes by and we dont even remember [me neither!!], but the nikkah date is something very special to us always and something we cant forget

first time u gave a nice reply on my thread lol

Re: anniversary

im not married but if my nikah and rukhsati was on different days, i would celebrate the nikah as my wedding anniversary since that is the actual day of marriage. to me it doesnt make sense to celebrate it on rukhsati because nikah is the main, most significant event.

Re: anniversary

i'd say Nikkah day

Re: anniversary

rukhsati. i guess it's a personal choice. but i'd say rukhsati cuz that's when u actually move in with the guy and begin your lives together.

Re: anniversary

our nikah and ruksati were 6 months apart. during the 6 month gap we didnt talk even once, no communication due to both sides of the family being pretty strict (even though we were nikahfied)..so we celebrate our ruksati date as our anniversary since technically that was when we started talking to eachother and living as a couple...

Re: anniversary

It that was me i would celebrate the nikkah, as thats when you got married. But it totally depends on the indiviual.

Re: anniversary

My mum and dad had two seperate dates as well. Its just an excuse to celebrate marriage twice and have fun athough they count their Nikkah date as their wedding anniversary.

Re: anniversary

I think logically it should be the Nikkah day as that's when the marriage is made legal.

Re: anniversary

^ Yea i do blv that too..
I'll probably have my Nikkah a day before the Rukhsati, i soooo want it to be on the Barat/rukhsati day. but no prb im okay with it now.. I'm not sure how we'll celebrate it.....
