Has anyone seen the film yet? Went to see it last night and it was actually a whole lot better than I first thought it’d be. Not quite as good as the book (films rarely are) but it was well worth a watch - especially as the story is based around where i grew up.
In all honesty, i don’t think most of you’ll like it. Really depends on whetehr you like Meera Syals stuff. Maybe the reason I liked it so much was cuz it was based on my home town and everyone in it sounded like me !!!
X_Commi, I’ve met Meera Syal and she’s the sweetest person - really down to earth. Have you read/seen/heard her stuff before?
Andha Qanoon, ever heard of google search? I’m not one of those people who makes a note of the producer/director/tea boy everytime i watch a film
Seriously, I wouldn't bother spending money on watching stuff done by British desis, you can generally predict beforehand what it's going to be about (culture clash, arranged marriage, stupid aunties, uptight uncles blah, drone etc...).
I think it's time we moved beyond and once in a while did something different for a change. Isn't the guy who directed or produced AI an Indian?
