NEW DELHI: Angry Sikhs brand-shing swords ransacked a police station in western India on Tuesday, outraged that six Hindus forcibly cut a Sikh teenage boy’s hair in a dispute over a girl, a news report said.
Two police were injured and the windscreen of their jeep was smashed when they tried to control the protesters, who threw rocks at them in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan state, Press Trust of India news agency said.
The protesters demanded the arrest of the six Hindus who they said beat and cut the hair of a 17-year-old Sikh youth, the report said. All devout Sikh men grow their hair and wear turbans, and the religion bars haircuts.
Police believe the six targeted the teenager because they objected to his friendship with a local girl, the report said. The protesters filed a police complaint alleging that the six took the teenager to a deserted place and assaulted him. The protesters also forced shops and businesses to close down for the day in parts of Jaipur, it said.
In Indian channels the news is a little different. Some (six) Hindu hooligans were busy in eve teasing and the Sikh boy bravely objected and later was tortured by these goons.

You must know that Hindu-Sikh marriages are fully accepted in our society.
Sikhs have a great History against religious discrimination. The minor sons of Guru Gobind Singh accepted death instead of accepting Islam as per the order of the great Muslim ruler Aurangzeb.
The present demonstrations are fully justified and the Hindu goons who have cut the hairs of the brave Sikh boys must be behind bars.

Why do hindus bring Islam into the mix during every conversation? This thread portrays hindu extremism towards other religions and even other casts. I was reading once that some higher cast hindu shot and killed a lower cast hindu youth for drinking out of a well reserved for the higher cast. This happened only perhaps a year ago. Not to mention how many other incidents such as this go unreported. Oh, and please keep Guru Gobind Singh out of this mess. He would have declared a sikh jihad on hindus after this incident.
You cant generalize the situation & call it hindu extremism. This should be seen as what it is - 6 criminal elements vs. an innocent person. It has nothing to do with religion so lets keep that out of it.

Later Hindustan claimed, the Sikh reacted like that because of the extremely hot weather on that day. And oh, I watched it on of the History Channels which was showing a documentary about the Gandhi dynasty.
