AND how many of those 8 have internet access? I think when it comes to reading on cricinfo, India is below par to Pakistanis. BBC cricket web site has relaized this and you would see a story or article on pakistani cricket almost daily.
Not sure where you get your statistics from.
8/10 cricket fans in the world being Indian was an educated guess on my part.
As far as internet access goes, India's vast middle-class, booming IT industry and an army of software programmers means that many more Indians have "full-time" Internet access than one would think. The "full-time" Internet access that often comes with employment in the IT sector translates into that many more hits on websites like Circinfo.
I am not implying that India is somehow great because of the above (as some of you are prone to interpreting in my posts). Just stating facts, that's all.
Believe me, its not an exclusive club that has 1 billion members !!
i just visited the bangladeshi cricket forum...it was an absolutely eye-opening experience.
i had absolutely no clue that they see their team as being on par with other WC contenders.
they are very nonchalantly talking about scoring 300 against india....how chances of bangladesh beating india and sri lanka range from 50/50 to 150%....how bangladesh beating india or sri lanka should not be called an "upset".
and not a hint of joking in any of the above statements.
indian (and pakistani) cricket boards seem to be riddled with pessimistic fans, but the bangladeshis are quite the opposite.
I wonder what the whole fuss is about. I totally agree with Some1 on this. Credit should be given where its due and it should be understood without even thinking, that majority of the cricket fans in this world are indians and I'm sure majority of the people visiting cricinfo are indians as well. I think its a bloody good website.
^Exactly.
I mean, forget about India and Pak, at least appreciate Cricinfo for the wealth of Cricket information it provides...use Cricinfo's Statsguru for instance....its amazing how much slicing and dicing one can do on all kinds of statistics.
Cricinfo even has records of some games played in the 19th Century.
I think cricinfo is a terrific site, the best there is for cricket. It's like an electronic Wisden. It has up to date stats of players and teams from virtually any era. It's also very user friendly because of the way it gives information in a detailed yet very structured manner. There's a bit of Indian bias which is understandable.
^ "bit" is being generous ... but then again beggars can't be choosers. I wish we had our version of cricket info so we didn't have to see headlines on ganguly on the eve of a Pakistan game
