Anger is part of us

No one person can say that they have never been angry or vexed.
From what I heard in the sermon today, anger is in our nature and it always needs to be controlled.

There have been countless events ahadiths stating how to control your anger.

Anyone care to :help: I’m feeling kinda :frusty: these days.

They usually say Read ayatal kursi and drink cold glass of water.

But looking forward to other responses :)

I'd say... break a few things here and there. Scream lots and cry your eyes out. :D
Ok, now seriously... I've this problem too. Though it takes a lot for me to lose my temper, but when I do...it's horrible. It doesn't take me long to calm down either. So it's not so bad. But, I too, would like to know what I can do to act sane (and control my tears) in such circumstances.

make sure u isolate urself from everyone else so u dont do something ur gna regret (eg sever relationships).

I get in the car if i can and floor it. We have a dual carriageway nearby where u can push the car really hard without breaking the speed limit (too much :P ).

If you cant get a car, u could jst go in ur room and lie down on the floor perhaps.....

erm cant think of anything else.

Make sure u read the quran once u've calmed down though....it gives one the humbling experience and its most needed at such times.

I have an anger problem too.

I do the following:

read a tasbeeh - pray anything on it.

read namaz. or read the quran.

go to a homeless shelter or an insane asylum to volunteer. very humbling experience.

there is a prayer some religious lady told my mother. She prays it on water (dhum) and then i drink the water. Perhaps its a psychological trick, but its worked on me. I'll find out the prayer if you're interested.

Although I get angry too, but I know people who never do... There is this Buddhist person I know, and I am pretty sure, no matter what you do to him, he never gets angry at all. Its just good self control if you ask me

Controlling yer anger isn’t a 2 day thing.. so dont expect to learn quick tricks to fix it :stuck_out_tongue: I used to have a hell of a temper, and the one thing that helped me is viewing things in retrospective and noticing that being angry has almost always been the reason for my losses. Its a given that you aren’t doing your best when you’re angry.

If the scenario is being rude and loud in a hot debate etc, try spending the same energy on thinking of a possible outcome rather than screamin. gets your mind off the frustration. recite: ayozobillahi min ashaitan ir rajeem ( i seek allah’s refuge from the shaitan)

If its more like snapping at others.. (being annoyed) then try and keep yer distance from those people until you can cool down.. (an obvious solution but works really well and the easily-annoyed mood ends quicker)

This is more like general advice though, not related to religion

Here’s something i came up with.. a good read  <Islam-qa>

Re: Anger is part of us

Anger in some situations is good…There are times when you HAVE to show anger…Its part of you…If you would get angry if someone teases your wife, insults or tries to subjugate your religion or you, then you can be angry and it shows that you have ghairat…But remember, your anger should not insult, demean or subjugate anyone…So go ahead…Be angry, but at the right things…If its a trifle, brush it away like a fly and say Lahol…

Whats the use of getting angry?

Anger rarely if ever solves anything.

Place your trust in Allah subhana wa ta'ala, everything that comes and goes does so with His will, and it is for us to accept.

This life is nothing but a test for us afterall.

This world was made for us, but we were made for the akhirah. (Saying of the Prophet sallallaho alaihe wasallam)
