Anger as KFC goes Halal

If KFC is about chicken why serve Bacon, ham, Lamb etc?

Why have they converted the Colne store into a halal one when there are not many Musllims in Colne although the neighbouring town of Nelson has a large population?

**Do we want too much? Do we impose ourselves too much on Britain or is it the media making it look like we Muslims complain too much? **

Anger as KFC in Colne serves only Halal meat

Date: 12 March 2010
A TRAWDEN woman has spoken of her disgust at an international fast food outlet choosing to serve only halal meat at its Colne premises.
The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, joins a growing number of objectors on Facebook, where more than 1,500 have supported the group “No Halal at Colne KFC”.
The store, on North Valley Retail Park, is one of 74 KFC outlets nationwide to be chosen for a halal trial. Those in Burnley, Accrington and Blackburn are also taking part in the trial.
On its website, KFC states: “For some time, we have received requests to provide halal food in parts of the UK, and as a result of this we are running a halal trial within communities where we anticipate a strong demand for halal products.”
For the chicken to be halal accredited, the animal is stunned and a verse recited from the Qur’an at the point of slaughter.
But for the restaurant to be certified halal, all products served there have to be halal, which takes away people’s choice, claims the Trawden resident.
She said: "I think to have halal forced on us and to not have a choice is wrong. They are saying the food is blessed, but that is not my religion.
"They have also taken out all their pork and bacon products, as it is against Islam to eat pig. Surely this is discriminating against people who do eat pig in this country.
“There are animal rights in this country which people fought long and hard for. I am not racist, but I strongly object to this being forced on us.”
However, Nina Arnott, a KFC spokesman, said the company was working closely with animal welfare organisations to ensure it keeps standards high.
She added: "We are sorry this customer feels worried, but would like to reassure her we are still using exactly the same ingredients and exactly the same great tasting chicken as before, while also working closely with animal welfare organisations to ensure we remain committed to our same high standards of animal welfare.
“For some time, we have had requests to provide halal food in some parts of the UK, and in Colne the restaurant is one of those taking part in our trial.”
KFC says the trial will involve evaluating customer feedback and the commercial success of the trial to establish if it is something it will continue with.

im sure the woman whos complained has no problem in eating HALAL takeaway burgers and donner kebab. really what on earth is the big deal? the meats just killed a different way, im sure the taste must be the same. sheesh.

Her main complaint seems to be that the bacon-containing products sold at other KFCs are not available at the halal KFC.

well i can understand her anger at this, i dont see why this kfc cant stock both halal meat and pig too, just in seperate fridges. the lady saying she isnt racist and going on about animal rights just sounds ludicrous though, as more than likely she will have eaten from a takeaway or restaurant that sells halal food. if she hasnt, i'll eat my hat lol.

No halal at Colne KFC. | Facebook

Re: Anger as KFC goes Halal

what religions are allowed pork?

Re: Anger as KFC goes Halal

It is the KFC's choice whether they want to serve Halal, Haraam, Kosher, Treif, Dhabeeha, Shechita or Jhatka or neither.

KFC is going to sell whatever sells, they care more about their profit rather than about Muslim or Non-Muslim.

Personally I wouldn't eat at KFC or MCD whether it be Halal or Haram because I believe we should support our own Muslim businesses and because our food is a lot tastier..

These scumbags who are complaining about "blessed food" wouldn't have a problem ordering a "blessed" chicken-tikka, lamb-bhuna or donner-kebab.

the same Muslim businesses who sell one naan for $1.25 and dont mind serving a day old food?

Re: Anger as KFC goes Halal

i love the closeted racists joining that fb group who wouldnt want it known that they really have a problem with Muslims instead of Halal. one of the pictures uploaded there (amidst other unfavourable portrayal of Muslims) says 'Do good for the community, kill a Paki'.

A bit of a generalisation.

KFC/MCD food tastes like cardboard.

At the end of the day we're all Pakis, we need to stick together and support each other.

Hahaha, true...

Have you noticed how they always start every sentence with "I'm not racist but..." and then go on to be precisely that, as though adding the "I'm not racist" prefix absolves them...

Re: Anger as KFC goes Halal

Looks like they were happy with the results of the trials of those few branches down here that went halal.. Fingers crossed it spreads even further, I don't live in a desi area and have to go half an hour away for halal KFC in E London :(

The "modified" bible may have allowed it LOL

Although as far as I know its not allowed in any religion but may be communism..

She is just being a nag. People like this would complain that why is a chicken place selling pork, lamb or other non-chicken products/

KFC is not actually Halal. They have been certified by the HFA who approve os mechanical slaughter, stunning and recite blessings on a microphone.

Re: Anger as KFC goes Halal

well if they dont want halal..so be it..how can we thop our prefernce on them..they should have a choice just like we do..

"And the pig, though it has a split hoof completely divided, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you. (From the NIV Bible, Leviticus 11:7-8)".

Naa its still there..shame how they dont follow it though.. and try to make fun of us for not eating it.. filthy hipocrates..

Re: Anger as KFC goes Halal

Hmm I can see why people are upset.

Also racist is a strong word. Dont throw it around so lightly.

Re: Anger as KFC goes Halal

personally I dont go to restaurants serving halal meat but also carry pork. If you cant find halal restaurant, you will not die eating veggies/fruit for couple of days ... as for this lady complaining? there always is one ....
