angels and beasts... and humans

Angels are of INTELLECT
and
Beasts are of SENSUALITY
Humans are of both.
When out intellectuality overcomes our sensuality we are better than the angels.
And when our sensuality overcomes our intellect we are worse than the beasts.

(i cant remmbr the narrarotor of this Hadith)

If by hadith you mean something that the Prophet Muhammad (s) said, then i doubt very much that this is one of his hadith. It was probably said by a scholar or someone else and then incorrectly ascribed to the Prophet (s). Allah knows best. Although i don't necessarily disagree with the statement itself, it does make some sense.

Iqbal...how can you be so sure this is NOT a hadith? Unless you are a mujtahid shaykh ul hadith who knows at least 300, 000 hadith by heart that is (in which case I apologise...)

Rather, the question should be: How can we be so sure that it IS a hadith? Whoever claims something is a hadith of the Prophet (s) has an obligation to prove it, not the other way around. In any case, i said: "i **doubt* very much that this is one of his hadith..."*

Finally, there aren't 300,000 Prophetic hadith in existence. As-Suyuti (d.811H), for example, aimed to collect all the statements (not actions or his tacit approvals) of the Prophet (s) and these can be found in his monumental work al-Jami' as-Saghir which contains some 15,000 hadith (though there are still some missing). Imam Ahmed's (d.241H) Musnad contains some 40,000 hadith (sayings, actions, approvals) but it includes many repetitions as well. When you hear that a scholar has memorised, say, 100,000 hadith, it actually means 100,000 different chains of transmission and may include hadith of the Prophet (s) as well as sayings of the Companions (r).

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing!!! :)

it IS a hadith, brother. im certain.. i just cannot remember where exactly i read it. as soon as i find it again i'll inform u InshaAllah.

If you don't have the SOURCE why post it and attribute it to "hadith" and the Prophet. Its not good... words look good though. :D
