Anyone looking forward to this OS? From what I have read, so far I am hating the fact that samsung’s knox is part of it and it would be really difficult to root it.
Here is some information on it.
PROS
Beautiful redesign
Notifications are much better
Support for multiple user accounts
Improvements in performance
Smart Lock
CONS
Some UI elements can be confusing
Limited multi-pane support in landscape mode, and no split-screen multitasking
Some users will lament lack of lock screen widgets
Overview can get too crowded with tabs
SUMMARY
Lollipop is the biggest Android update yet, featuring a pleasant new design and loads of clever features that enhance the user experience.
Been using it for the last 2 months (Nexus 5 and HTC One M7, both running Android 5.0.1), No Knox isn't part of AOSP yet, rooting isn't complicated as long as boot loader is unlocked, SELinux is set to Enforced thou.
The multi tasking is miles better than the previous implementations (you can disable chrome tabs from appearing), the UI looks clean and beautiful (#PraiseDuARTe) and the run time switch from Davlik to ART makes everything super smooth. Love the new multi user support, priority modes, notification drawer, quick settings etc. There are some bugs and omitted features thou, like the lack true silent mode. We will have the bug fixed 5.1 version as soon as next week.
Edit: forgot about one of the best new feature, screen pinning, you can pin a particular app to your screen while passing your phone to someone.
unstable on nexus 5, though I haven’t updated to 5.0.2 yet on the phone but nexus 7 has it. Some weird google logic… :halo:
Google usually is crass and sort of like MS’s hit and misses with windows. Like it or not, apple usually delivers a polished product and everyone gets it. Google apparently delayed this learning from apple’s problems with iOS / OS X going to every device, but it seems that they still dropped the ball. It is horrible how it has worked on NExus.
It is sort of like microsoft dropping the ball on Windows 8 on Surface tablets.
Bhai, same thing happened when apple came out with iOS 8. It didnt work till they pushed 8.01. It happens. Apple only delivers to the hardware they choose. Google has to work with a lot of other hardware. Still seeing all the flexibility of android I would still stick with it. Not because I am a fan boy but because it works for me to be able to get access to the root level on the OS and make changes that makes sense to me.
The point (or apples-to-apple compare) is that nexus is the iphone equivalent for Google / Android. In fact, google made this device while looking at the success of iPhone for a vanilla system that is updated over time, though iPhone still beats them for official system updates. I know that we can talk about rooting, but it won’t do you any good if you have nexus 3 as developers stopped working on it a long time ago.
It is comparable to MSFT messing up windows on surface tablets. Now, the tablet isn’t perfect like if you are using headphones to hear audio and take it out of the jack and plug it in, the audio won’t transmit through earphones forcing you to use speakers. It is a known hardware flaw in surface pro 1 tablets, but windows 8 works flawlessly compared to other third party vendors.
Kuch to sharam karro bhai. Agar google may shares hain to phir alag baat hai…
There is a difference with Apple and google hardware. The first few nexus’ were made by other vendors like HTC and Samsung for Google. The fact about rooting is that it will still benefit you if you have any phone that can work with Android and you can root it and install a ROM or modify or cook the ROM of your choosing. Its all open source. I have never said anything about apple not being superior with hardware and software combination. It is the best but it comes at a great price and also doesnt give me any customization.
Microsoft example doesnt apply here since we are talking about customizing your phone/device on the OS level. Microsoft is still a closed source system just like Apple.
Shara main sharam kaisi? Nahin bhai meray joi shares nahin hai Google main. Aap kay Apple main hain kiya? :joel:
-App pinning
-Guest mode out of the box
-Device assisted unlock
-much smoother feel
-ART integration (still being worked on), would help with 64bit architecture
Haven't had any issues since 5.02 came out. I've tested it on Nex5, Nex7 and Note4. But its best on Nex6. I will be moving to that latter next week.

Once you start using 5.02 you just can't go back
Tofi bhai: Do you know if its the same guest mode as the LG g3?
