Great job by the Pak team in defending the goal, but not getting to the final is a major bummer.
Oh too bad.

Korea struggles to defeat Pakistan 1-0
28 September 2000
Korea will play for gold in the Men’s Hockey final after defeating the more fancied Pakistanis 1-0 in the first of two semi-finals at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games on Thursday.

Pakistan will have to make do with playing for bronze.
In what was an even match both teams struggled to gain control. It took until the 57th minute for Korea to break through for the only goal.
Both teams created many opportunities in the first half but were thwarted by each other’s impenetrable defence. Korea took the upper hand and with less than 15 minutes remaining SONG Seung-Tae ran the ball down the wing beating two Pakistani defenders and the goal keeper. But he found no support.
Less than two minutes later the Koreans again cut through the Pakistani defence, only to miss the goal.
Pakistan came out fighting in the second half and looked to be in control, creating more opportunities than the Korean team. Pakistan came close to taking the lead with a shot at goal hitting the post and as the pressure mounted LIM Jung-Woo (KOR) was stretchered off.
The Pakistanis had six penalty corners but were unable to convert any, because the speed of the Korean defenders shut down penalty corner specialist Sohail ABBAS.
Korea regained control of the match with two penetrating attacks before SONG flicked the ball past the keeper to convert a penalty corner. Moments later they looked to score again, but the ball sailed past the face of the goal.
Despite their efforts, Pakistan were unable to equalise. The Koreans will play the winners of Thursday’s other semi-final between Australia and the Netherlands for gold on Saturday.
