And now Electronics ban!!!

Both US and UK have banned electronics like laptop etc from several muslim countries including middle east.

How would you deal with this situation?

The U.S. and U.K. on Tuesday banned people flying from much of the Middle East and North Africa from carrying laptops, tablets and other large electronic devices in the airplane cabin because of concerns about terrorism.
New security restrictions from the Trump administration require nine airlines based in the region to prevent people flying from eight countries from bringing any device bigger than a smartphone on board. Those devices will have to be checked into the luggage hold.

The U.S. ban will affect more than 50 flights a day from 10 airports in the mainly Muslim countries, including major hubs such as Dubai and Istanbul, according to senior administration officials. The nine airlines affected were notified of the procedures by the U.S. at 3 a.m. ET Tuesday and must comply within 96 hours.

The U.K. ban affects six countries, including two not on the U.S. list – Tunisia and Lebanon.

Top international carriers – such as Emirates Airline, Qatar Airways, British Airways and Turkish Airlines – are among those that will have to implement new restrictions.

Re: And now Electronics ban!!!

Actually its a business thing… nothing to do with any real terrorist threat, British and American Airlines suck big time and lots of foriegn companies started getting into the market share… so to stop that the US and British are simply putting restrictions on the “competition” That will teach those Pesky Turkish, Arab and Malaysian Airlines… :v

Re: And now Electronics ban!!!

Actually just read that US has banned all gadgets bigger than cell phones. Funny part is that all US airlines are exempted.

Not sure about UK ban rules yet

Re: And now Electronics ban!!!

Erm those aren’t pesky airlines, those are the world’s top airlines. Stupid mentality.

Re: And now Electronics ban!!!

In the UK , Allah ka shukkar hai , the govt has still managed to keep its integrity ! They have put a ban on too , but not on certain carriers. I think they are more focused on locations .

But my question is , they have exempted Europe and other locations , why the specific locations only . If someone flies to europe and then into the UK , it will kill the whole purpose of this ban , wouldnt it

I think one of the biggest sufferers of this will be the people travelling on business .

Sarcasm is clearly lost on you… Stupid mentality?

Re: And now Electronics ban!!!

Erm no, because it affects British Airways as well..

You should check the facts before making comments like this..

Re: And now Electronics ban!!!

On a p recentage basis, British Airway probably does not come close to Emirates in terms of taking off from Muslim countries. Emirates HQ is Dubai. So I think Faris-san may have a point.

Re: And now Electronics ban!!!

^But there was no need to include any British Airlines (there are quite a few others wich are affected too) as America chose not to include American airlines in its ban if it was all about competition..

Every British airline that flies to those same destinations is subject to the same restrictions..

Re: And now Electronics ban!!!

Correct. UK did go extra step and include d British airlines. But Emirates gets much more affected than say British airways. Since its hub is Dubai. That’s probably what swordsman and historian Faris Udeen was referring to.
