Viswanathan Anand, the world champion, used a blistering attack to win the fourth game of his title match against Veselin Topalov of Bulgaria on Wednesday. He now leads the best-of-12 match 2.5 points to 1.5.
It was the second win by Anand, both times in games where he had White. As in Game 2, he chose the Catalan, an opening long favored by Vladimir Kramnik, the former world champion who won a memorable, and acrimonious match against Topalov in 2006. Though is might be amusing to assume that Anand has chosen the opening for psychological reasons (play the opening of Topalov’s greatest nemesis), it is more than likely that Anand selected the opening in his pre-match preparations because he decided that it did not suit Topalov’s style.
In Game 4, Topalov varied his response to the Catalan from Game 2 and, as in that game, achieved a reasonable position out of the opening. But, as in Game 2, Topalov committed a couple of mistakes. Whereas in Game 2, Anand was able to grind Topalov down, this time, Topalov’s errs were more serious and left his king without adequate protection. Anand quickly capitalized, launching a vicious attack. Within a few moves, Topalov was completely lost and he resigned.
Topalov now has to be worried. Though he is only behind one point (a win is worth one point, a draw is worth a half), he has lost both games that he has played Black, while Anand easily drew Game 3, when he last had Black. Since Thursday is a rest day, it gives Topalov time to regroup. The match resumes Friday with Game 5.

It was good and interesting to watch the champion to retain his title in style :k: cuz the match started in dramatic fashion for him with 1st game as loss and then great comeback…

His father, however, stated that he is most and greatest ever player, which is not the case in my opinion, though there is no doubt in his superimacy today in world chess… Yes, he can be rated among the best but I still rate him under Kasparov, who is the only player at the planet who has crossed 2850 barrier in FIDE ratings in his carrier and has a lot of huge wins under his belt

well… off course it is one of the joyous moments for anand though… congratulations

And it was also good for FIDE unity, cuz she has now only one and undisputed champion
