I’m confused. Did he go looking for a job in Afghanistan or did he go to Pakistan to help that girl?

I think looking for a job in Afghanistan is just a ruse, You don’t go looking for a job to Afghanistan, you will only go there with a job in hand or at the very least a confirmed interview for a job. Most Indians only work inside Secured Complexes (such as US / NATO bases etc), so flying to Afghanistan on a Tourist visa to look for employment is pretty far fetched.

I think he communicated with the said girl on FB or similar, fell in love and in true Bollywood style decided to elope with her, unfortunately the reality has in all probability been tragic.

definitely a good plot for a bollywood mirch masala movie. feeling sorry for the guy.
