An Olympics riddled with controversy

If you thought that the Canadian outrage for not getting a gold medal in pairs skating was the highlight of Salt Lake 2002, then think again… that seems only the first step in an Olympics which are resembling a large political divide in the sports field.

As CNN reports more and more controversies are brewing. The Russians want a gold medal for figure-skating. The Koreans want a gold medal of their own for short-track speedskating won by American Apolo Anton Ohno.

A four-time defending champion of 20-kilometer cross-country relay from Russia was disqualified because of “high levels of hemoglobin”. The South Korean was kicked out because he seemed “interfering” in the final lap. The Russian figure-skater thinks the judges are biased.

It seems like a gold rush in Mormon country. The fun has only just started.

ps. And NBC’s ratings keep on going higher. Controversies are fun, if you are a network exec.
