An observation

why do young muslims, not all, of course, but many, always want to go to non-muslim countries for vacation?

we should be able to embrace diversity within the islamic world as well.

any thoughts?

Re: An observation

Cause it's easier, meaning you don't need to go through the hassle of getting a visa. It also depends on where people live. It's a lot easier for Muslims living in England to travel to Turkey, Algeria, Egypt, Dubai, etc. cause it's more accessible and cheaper since there are more flights going out there from England as opposed to North America. A lot of people from Europe do travel to Muslim countries. Distance wise, it's just harder for people in North America ... but those who can afford it normally do go, despite the hurdles.

Re: An observation

I think people should drink water from a variety of "ghaats". This not only increases the understanding of the world in general but also makes us appreciate our own culture/religion/country more.

Re: An observation

For freedom. But I would not say only non muslim countries but also the muslim countries with relaxed laws for night life and fun.

How would you attract tourists to go to countries like SA?

On the other hand if you look at the tourists figure in Dubai, Egypt and Lebanon you will be highly surprised.

Re: An observation

I'm a young Muslim but I want to go to Makkah and Medina, then Afghanistan. Travel the Silkroad, etc.

Re: An observation

anyone tried getting a tourist visa to saudi? other than umra/haj forget it. My Uncle had to smuggle his dad in for a 2 week break. Got a visa as an engineer through his company

Re: An observation

With respect to some of the above posts, Saudi and places in the middle east are not the only "Muslim" places to visit.

My brother just back from a two week vacation in Bosnia of all places. He absolutely loved it. Not all of it was destroyed in the war ... and it has been quite a few years since the end of the war so the place IS being built back up. If you want to see some genuine medieval Muslim cities, then I would highly recommend you to visit eastern Europe and Bosnia/Sarajevo area. I will post some pics later on .... beautiful place. Inshallah, I will go there as well one day.

These places really do need our support in order to grow economically. I understand Pakistanis love Dubai and it is a great place to visit, but there are places outside of the middle east that are really lovely and that can use our economic support (in terms of tourism) ... Bosnia, Morocco, norther African countries, Indonesia, etc.

Re: An observation

^

Bosnia sounds like a great idea.

Soddeeee Rabia is a tourist destination for Muslims? How sad!

Re: An observation

There are also places like Spain, Turkey and Morocco etc where there is Islamic history.

Re: An observation

Dushwari baji you have issues

now to answer you question-its mainly because they are interested in learning about different cultures-just like people in the non-muslim countries are!!

Re: An observation

i love smurfs.

Re: An observation

I think it has to do with the touristic infrastructure that is beeing provided in Non-Muslim countries and which you rarely find in Muslim countries. Visa issues are another factor though.

I myself like to see as many different places as possible, regardless of whether they are Muslim or Non-Muslim countries. If I look at my travel history I need to catch up on Muslim countries though. :)
