An Indian Group has Claimed Responsibility for Jaipur Blast

NEW DELHI, India (AFP) - A previously-unknown militant group has claimed responsibility for a string of blasts that killed 63 people in the Indian tourist city of Jaipur, The Times of India reported Thursday.

The English-language broadsheet said the group which identified itself as “Indian Mujahideen” e-mailed video clips of a bicycle which it said was packed with explosives and set off at one of the eight blast locations in Jaipur.

Indian police on Wednesday arrested two men after eight near-simultaneous bombings killed 63 people and wounded 216 in the Rajasthan tourist city of Jaipur, the state’s chief minister said.

“We have arrested two people and have detained several (more) people for questioning,” Vasundhara Raje told a press conference.

“We have information that 63 people have died and many are injured critically,” she said after the blasts ripped through crowded markets on Tuesday night.

Thanks God that would ease some Indian concerns and especially the speculations that involve Pakistan. We all Pakistanis can assure our Indian friends that we are with them in condemning any act against humanity. India now must have to look in their own backyard for what’s brewing.

Re: An Indian Group has Claimed Responsibility for Jaipur Blast

While this is some good news, the tragic loss of so many lives still hangs over. Just so unfortunate :(

Re: An Indian Group has Claimed Responsibility for Jaipur Blast

I agree, it is very sad and unfortunate with tragic loss of so many lives whether in Pakistan or India.

Re: An Indian Group has Claimed Responsibility for Jaipur Blast

Hello!

Is it smart to just look at a name the terrorist group gave themselves and conclude they are Indian?

Your sympathies and concerns expressed are highly appreciated and I am not saying these as empty words.

Re: An Indian Group has Claimed Responsibility for Jaipur Blast

E-mail owning up Jaipur blasts is far from real

Re: An Indian Group has Claimed Responsibility for Jaipur Blast

^ But if you got the news fully, it clearly says that the e-mail was sent from outskirts of New Dehli.

A little-known group Indian Mujahideen claimed responsibility for the attacks and sent a video to Aaj Tak via e-mail supposedly featuring the bicycles wrapped with explosives used during the terror attacks. The group threatened an “open war against India” unless it stops supporting the United States and United Kingdom on “international issues” such as the iraq war and Afghanistan War, despite the fact that India does not have troops in either country. The address from which the e-mail was sent was reported to be [EMAIL=“[email protected]”][email protected]. News agencies reported that the video showed a serial number on one of the bicycles.

Re: An Indian Group has Claimed Responsibility for Jaipur Blast

But the real strength of the Islamic jihadi groups responsible for explosions in Indian-administered Kashmir and other Indian states lies not so much in the “foreign hand” but in the proliferation of these “sleeper cells” within India.

Usually a sleeper cell contains no more than three to four militants, armed and trained but asked to lie low until definite orders.

The Intelligence Bureau estimates the number of these jihadi “sleeper cells” as running into a few thousands.

“They have thrived on Muslim alienation in India since the phenomenal rise of the Hindu right in the country in the mid-1980s,” says Pradip Bose of the Calcutta-based Center for Study in Social Sciences (CSSS).

He says it all started with the demolition of the Babri Mosque in Ayodhya in December 1992 and has been fuelled by large-scale violence against Muslims, such as in the Gujarat riots in 2002.

"A riot like Gujarat creates a few thousand potential jihadis seeking revenge, so there’s no use blaming the foreign hand. We in this country have created this problem," says Mr Bose, a distinguished sociologist.

Hello Saad_UAE,

Please read the link that Mr.Birdflu has posted which should clarify that confusion.

Re: An Indian Group has Claimed Responsibility for Jaipur Blast

Pundit Vikram

Please note, there is no confusion.

India has some ingrown terrorists that it needs to defend itself from. All media BBC etc are saying that India has to look for its own problems inside Indian nation rather then keep on old habits of pointing at others.

I know it is difficult for you and other Indians to accept but i don't blame you.

Saad

Re: An Indian Group has Claimed Responsibility for Jaipur Blast

wat a weird logic ??

tell me one thing .... since 9/11 tookplace in america do u belive that the perpetrators are americans?? certainly not

and the same yard stick applies here there are sleeper cells in india but the acts are planned and financed by the masters across the border...

Re: An Indian Group has Claimed Responsibility for Jaipur Blast

^that's a weird logic comparing America and India....

Re: An Indian Group has Claimed Responsibility for Jaipur Blast

Hello Saad_UAE,

If it is not conclusion then it has to be wanton mistatement which, not knowing you, I did not want to accuse you of - hence I concluded you were confused (not in a personal mentality sense, but about the facts of the case).

The facts being, the link that Mr.Birdflu posted reports that the email could be a hoax based on the cycle mismatch amongst other things. But more importantly, one has to be incredibly naive to believe it is a 'local' group just because they said in their email that they are called 'Indian' jihad. If you believe that then what will your attitude be towards terrorists groups in Pakistan that call themseleves Islam-this and Islam-that? If you believe that their name indicates their true nature then these groups must be regarded as truly Islamic which I am sure you will not want to so believe.

Re: An Indian Group has Claimed Responsibility for Jaipur Blast

So with same logic, if (God Forbid) a sad event like this happens in Pakistan, it must be planned and financed in India/Bharat?

Re: An Indian Group has Claimed Responsibility for Jaipur Blast

What you are saying is that in India, no one is unhappy and everyone does all the good things there and can never ever ever attack its own people and they all live happily...... forever.
And its the evil shaitan Pakistan and its citizens who do all the bad things in India/Bharat...

An e-mail is questioned by you based on what you read...but you were quick to blame Pakistan or its people WITHOUT even a freaking e-mail as evidence.
What should one call this sort of thinking?

A bicycle survives and many people get blown up and one can tell that handle and not the carrier was used! Even the model is recognized enough.
I do admit one needs to have more explainations for this not so strong theory.

Challo Indians shabaash, take the whine fest to Bangladeshi boards quickly before they ban you.

Re: An Indian Group has Claimed Responsibility for Jaipur Blast

if there are banned groups existing in india which have caused damage in the past w.r.f pakistan u are free to accuse.........

thats not the case with us.. there are no terrorist groups in india who have targetted pak in the past..

Re: An Indian Group has Claimed Responsibility for Jaipur Blast

How do you know that? or rather how can you be so sure?

Re: An Indian Group has Claimed Responsibility for Jaipur Blast

i ask u are there any groups in india which have targetted pak in the past??

any group which was banned either by UN or by US or even by pakistan

Re: An Indian Group has Claimed Responsibility for Jaipur Blast

Are you saying India has no extremist elements within itself, whatsoever? No groups who involve themselves in terrorist activities? Whose citizenship and identity is Indian? Who were born and raised in India regardless of faith or beliefs?

ps: I don't think there is a single nation which is free of such elements, but go ahead surprise me!

Re: An Indian Group has Claimed Responsibility for Jaipur Blast

the question here is about organistaions that have carried cross border attacks... go back to the question i have asked...
