First of all, though I have stated this before in a thread, I think its about time Govt cuts its spendings in silly stuff, and stop politicians from performing free umras and hajjs! Fahmida Mirza Sahiba, our new speaker, went on an Umrah now. This comes after the PML[Q]/Mush party
CaretakerPrime MinisterSoomro costing Pakistan $2.8Million for his lavish umrah! Musharraf himself wasted alot of money and breaking all the records set by those before him. There should be a ban on these muft umras and hajjs!
I totally agree. Umrah/Hajj is meant to performed at one's own expense, when and if he/she is able to do so. I don't mean to pull the rug from underneath, but will their pilgrims even be accepted, performed at the expense of the nation whose poor go to sleep hoping for a loaf of bread the next day.....
Serving the humanity is a pilgrim in itself, if these politicians charitied half the money they spend on lavish trips, it would do much good for people, and earn one plenty more in the afterlife.
May Allah guide these misguided souls who thrive at the expense of the hungry, poor, and voiceless.
Why are these chors doing umrahs and hajjs on our tax money?
Zardari arrived in Dubai, more than a week ago, from his trip to Greece and Turkey. He invited all the PPP heads down to Dubai for a meeting before his trip to London where he will be meeting Nawaz Sharif.
Wth is going on! Can they not meet in Pakistan, or are they too afraid to travel to the next city in their own country…for fear of getting caught in a suicide bomb?
The idea that power means privilege needs to be broken.
If could be dictator for a day I would:
1) Give VIP residences like the presidential palace to medical charities together with funds to convert them to hospitals
2) VIP residences should be smaller, humbler abodes. Though set on large plots of land for security reasons to prevent bombers from getting up to the building.
3) Armoured cars for transportation would still be needed, but VIP planes should be eliminated. Leaders should travel on scheduled or chartered planes, or in a worst case scenario on air force troop and cargo transport aircraft.
The subcontinent's royal past leaves a bitter legacy in that even democratically elected leaders feels they can live as royalty.
