An Artist a Day...

Shall try and post works of important Artists and the turning points of their lives…
with the freedom to analyze, critique, and comment on whatever you see in their work… good or bad.

Georgia O’Keeffe

Enter O’Keeffe’s uniquely beautiful world through this intimate look at one of the most original American artists of the 20th century.
From her earliest mature works to her final paintings - over the course of a career spanning more than seven decades - Georgia O’Keeffe consistently incorporated circular forms into her compositions. Her use of this motif stands in contrast to strategies of abstraction adopted by many of her peers, which tended to be Cubist-based, using straight lines and angles rather than curves and circles. Using the circle and its kin - the ellipse, the oval, and the arcing line - O’Keeffe explored the shifting terrain between abstraction and representation, sometimes calling upon such forms to represent a mood, a reaction to a sensation, or the spiritual essence of a subject, while at other times using them to encourage her viewers to see new relationships between familiar objects.

Her paintings to me are very feminine.. with rounded almost voluptous shapes.. shown in flowers or fruits.. Did she see women as beautiful flowers and fruits??.. sort of like a beautifying object in a landscape.. or delicious fruit in a still ife..

What was the purpose of women on earth again???

Re: An Artist a Day...

Georgia was a very versatile artist. Not many like her. Her work spanned from charcoal sketches all the way to oil.

I feel that an artist portrays much of what she or he feels within. The art you mentioned above is a translation of how she views life, maybe: accessible, vague yet defined, colorful yet limited.

Re: An Artist a Day...

she did alot of flowers in soft colours when i studied about her i remener this one painting were it was the folds of the cloth that at the time inspired me, bus by looking at the picture if i remeber correctly it was pastel colours not sure what it was made from, but symbolised softness (Cloth softness/colour softness) in my life thats why chose it :)

As a non-artist art lover, I just love the “strokes” that Guljee comes up with. His choice of colors and the flow in his work is amazingly beautiful. Love to share some of his work
