I read it..written nicely...but the end:(
Re: An Article in NY TIMES
Ask99, you are right.
what do you feel about the manner in which the article sheds light on dos and donts of behaviors relegated to the culture of real or unreal self respecting and self-restrain-following people?

It does shed light on the self restraining people but at the same time it showed that it can be taken to extreme ...I say that because in life you cannot get everything according to your ideals..I do agree that there are certain things that are more valued by an individual ...but the article just ended abruptly...it caught me off guard almost. It seemed earlier that she wanted to get to know the person more and after wards get to feel how his hand felt but then when she finally did...the feelings faded away pretty quickly and she started feeling guilt(or so I assume)...That is the reality in most cases..things are not always how we imagine...thee r no birds singing in the background..or breath stopping moments the way we envision them...real life is different ...and one should realize that sooner or later..better sooner then later:).
It seemed that at the end she just avoided the whole.."reality bit"..which is sad to see...again the knight in shiny armour may well be a man in khakis and blue shirt..in reallife ...Keeping an open mind is the most important thing:)

thanks, Ask99.
it is also sadly possible that when a woman tries to take a promise and hold a man's hand, he withdraws. some times it ends like in this article and at other times in absolutely self rightueously claimed, delibrate last minute confusion or selfishness.
may Allah swt prevent people from such knowledge of complete disappointment in allowing a person to lead into building a untruthful and unstatisfying relationship.
best, Dushwari
