An article about Army and Asma Jahangir

Re: Agencies want to kill me: Asma Jahangir

Yes she is.

She is one of the most respected and influential people in Pakistan.

When she say's something, people listen.

re: An article about Army and Asma Jahangir

nice, it was great to read good about army, unlike others who cant appreciate the efforts of our brave soldiers. :k:

re: An article about Army and Asma Jahangir

It is not about the soldiers.

It is about the greedy and corrupt Generals who control them.

Those same Generals who have done so much to ruin Pakistan.

re: An article about Army and Asma Jahangir

well, i think in army more than generals, soldiers exists........ and just because of few dirty ppl its not good to say bad things about the whole army

re: An article about Army and Asma Jahangir

I am the biggest critic of the army due to the handling of the following issues:

1) balochistan (operations, abductions, kill and dump)
2) the way they have participated in the war in terror and the failure to have drone attacks stopped
3) failure to preempt and stop terrorist attacks through out the country

Due to all of the above mentioned factors the army has lost a lot of goodwill and support in the country over the years, and they should now take corrective actions to normalize things and understand that force is not the answer to all ills. Most of our security situation is due to the wrong policies of two generals Musharraf and kayani, should the whole army be punished for the follies of a few generals?

I see a conspiracy going on against the army in which willingly or unwillingly the military has played into it with its wrong decisions, we should condemn human right abuses by anyone (including the military). I don't know if she really has a threat from them or not, there are many out there who might get her due to her views, labeling each and every thing on the army could prove dangerous for the army and I don't think we can afford that either.

re: An article about Army and Asma Jahangir

i agree wth u just bc of the ppl who r on the top positions in army, the whole army is suffering, ppl r not respecting army, which is i think the most important sector of nation. i just pray ALLAH in ko akal de n seehday rasaty pe jai, justr bc of these few ppl, scarifices of poor soldiers r wasted, i wish k woh dour wapis a jai when ppl used to respect army

Re: An article about Army and Asma Jahangir

You forget:-

  1. Bangaldesh

  2. The way militancy was allowed to spread through FATA/KP from 2006 onwards, ignored or even encouraged by the army

  3. Corruption and greed within the higher levels of the army - the perks of the high levels are just too much for a poor country and army officers can just walk into any job

  4. links to sectarian outfits which have been raised by the army and create havoc within the territory and very few ever being punished for it

the list could go on..

I feel sorry for the lower ranks who are just cannon fodder for the top end. Many of the soldiers killed since 2001 in Pakistan could have been avoided had there been no double dealing with the militants.

Re: Agencies want to kill me: Asma Jahangir

Rightly or wrongly she is actually not that respected in Pakistan as she has views that many people dont understand and are not allowed to understand. I do not always agree with her and i think she is biased, as many other people are but to lose her point of view in Pakistan would truly be a shame.

She deserves credit for her criticism of the ISI-Army leadership and the fact she has been speaking about Balochistan since day one. Most people have jumped on the bandwagon in the last 2 years. She has a lot of courage to speak out against such a powerful institution however since she is a liberal she will be hated by the majority.

Re: An article about Army and Asma Jahangir

The three issues that I had mentioned are the recent ones (thats why left out Bangladesh), the cause of our recent descent into chaos.

Re: Asma Jahangir: ISI is trying to kill me

Corrupt people never dare to raise finger against agencies. They have full record of activities of each person in Pakistan. Current example is CJ, how he has been humiliated for case against missing persons. ISI and agencies in Pakistan are the biggest devil ruling the country with no accountability. Read my post 107# where CJ has also thinked that.
