An Army Related Question

So i was watching the movie Heroes and it made me so emotional and stirred thoughts in my mind. I know its an indian movie but the question/questions i am asking are in general but inspired from that.

Ok, so a question to the ladies here. Would you willingly marry someone in the army? Knowing there is a chance that he could be sent to the war and god forbid a chance of his death.

Would you think about it alot more if the rishta you got was from some guy who was in the armed forces?

To all the mothers and parents here, if your son or daughter(as more and more women are also getting into the armed forces) told you that they were serious about getting into the armed forces, what would your reaction be?

  1. Would you encourage them and be openly happy about their decision?
  2. Would you encourage them and from the outside seem happy but from the inside you are sad and thinking about things like death, their lack of proximity to you etc etc
  3. Would you try to discourage them from joining the armed forces and tell them about other choices
  4. Other: ________________________________________________

i am have been working for Canadian Air Cadet as a CIC officer and couple of months ago i got promoted to 2nt Lt. I told my parents i want to marry someone who is in the military.....as i am crazy abt military6. But :( i never got a proposal of someone who was in army, nevy or air. Instead got married to a doctor......dont wana b na-shukri or anything...... its funny how one of my friend wanted to marry a doc and she ended up getting engaged with a guy in army and she tells me how he talks about army stuff and it doesnt make sense to her but i totally understand and same goes with ma husband....he talks abt his day @ wrk which i am not really interested in....

i would definitely let ma kids join military infact i have already planned that atleast one of 'em will definitely have to go in Air and i wont mind marrying 'em to a guy who is in military

Re: An Army Related Question

My dadi married my dada during the middle of World War 2. He was on the front line fighting in Burma when their marriage was arranged. He went back to India on leave, did his nikkah and rukhsati and everything, brief honeymoon, then flew back to Burma (nearly getting killed when the Japanese Air Force attacked the plane he was in) and got back on with the fighting.

Re: An Army Related Question

I think theres nothing more honorable and impressive than choosing to dedicate your life to serving your country whatever country it may be. I'm happily married to a non-military man but if he decided to enlist, I'd be 1000 percent behind him. And I would be SO proud of my boyz should they want to try for West Point or Annapolis.
