re: An Advice for Tendulkar
^ dont be a stat whore as we all know most of his 100s have been useless when it matter
Re: An Advice for Tendulkar
I am not against banter but the thread is in bad taste
It is not Tendulkar's fault that India did not win today or that he has never played in an indian team boasting bowlers of the calibre of Warne, Murali, McGrath or the two W's. Blame the batters who followed him that messed it up big time.
Appreciate the genius that is Sachin Tendulkar

rather depend on stats then mindless bigoted hatred.
"we all know most of his 100s have been useless"
i just showed you 33 of 46 coming in wins. do you have anything intelligent to say to that? or more mindless bigoted jibes?
the inferiority complex is hilarious

come on dont let the defeat get to ur head. i dont say that sachin sucks. he is a great player but a little selfish. noticed how he slowed down when reached 80s.

your response does not follow up on the ridiculous previous notion of yours that sachins 100s are useless.. 33 off 46 in wins... admit you were wrong. do it!
i dont think he is SELFISh and ONLY cares about his 100..... but I 100% agree that its ridiculous how it has become NORMAL for any player (any, not just SRT, get over it) to slow down in the 90s.. this is a team game.. stfu and get on with it.. your 100 will come when it will come..
Viru is a true champion in that regard!

exactly.. remember razzaq's 100 last year... he didn't even had a faint smile when he scored a century after long time; only smiled when pakistan won the game.
on the other hand did u see the reaction of sachin when he made some record in a test against saffies recently... he was juming up and down when he reach that milestone even he knew india was losing the match. pathetic to say least
Re: An Advice for Tendulkar
I think it is unfair to criticise Tendulkar for slowing down when approaching his hundred. He did slow down (any batsman would) in the 90s but it's understandable and within reason, not excessive by any means. Cricket is a team game but it is also true that in cricket more than in any other sport, personal milestones DO matter. Greatness is mainly if not entirely judged by your stats. I won't blame Tendulkar here. The batsmen after him still had ample time and overs to close out the game

his 100s are useless when it matters? I dont understand what this means. 33 of his 100s led to wins. I am sure they all mattered. No?
Sachin scored 2 100s in that test series and India did quite well. #1 in #2's homegrounds.. and we tied the series.. and almost won the last test. Even SA would admit that India came out on top in that series. Not sure what you are talking about. In the test India lost.... everyone was out... I don't see why its horrible to celebrate your 100.. specially when the crowd is going crazy even in SA... he likes to look up to his dead dad in the sky everytime he scores a 100... it's not really a "look at me i am awesome" celebration everytime..
Fact is that it has become a norm for players to slow down in their 90s. It's ridiculous.

arre bhai but why is the slowing down understandable? Yes almost every batsman does it. I am not only criticising SRT. But why should they slow down? Match situation requires you to keep going along at 7-8 RPO and then 10 RPO in the last 10-12 overs. If you slow down for your 100 you basically give away 3-4 overs at 4 RPO. That's a major dent to the team I believe.
This is a team game. Every losing man of the match says that he would have preferred winning than getting a 100 in a losing cause which got him the MOM.
Re: An Advice for Tendulkar
just my opinion but personal landmarks also add beauty to cricket.
That is why we have this in cricket ![]()

Name one great batsman apart from Viv Richards over the past three decades who was not stat-obsessed!
The answer is a plain and simple NO
Re: An Advice for Tendulkar
Even the most keen football or Tennis fans won't necessarily know who has scored the most goals in World Cups or won most French Opens etc. On the otherhand most knowledgeable cricket fans do know about common records
Re: An Advice for Tendulkar
Viru is not stat obsessed
How many times has he tried for the big whack when he is in his 90s/190s/290s? ![]()
Matt Hayden was another one that did not seem to slow down in his 90s too much.
The rest yes.. they all slow down..
Sure records are great.. they add beauty and should be tallied.. I am just not sure if its cool for players to make personal records their priority #1 for 3-4 overs in the middle of a game.. and then return to winning the game back as priority #1 after the personal landmark has achieved.
Re: An Advice for Tendulkar
Manbearpigdonkeymonkey.. I am waiting to hear from you.. why are SRT's 33 100s in games India won.. irrelevent and not matter?

Not much maybe, they must be against weaker teams or on flat tracks. go dig more stats now. shabash

"norm for players" haha dont put it like taht.. did u see how SA tighten the field when he was in 90s. Even they knew how important his 100 is to him.
the fact remains that when he sees that he can get to hundered he slows down awfully alot and put unnecessary pressure on the rest of the team. u can disagree to that and dig more stats but thats a general fact.
