Amnesty demands probe into Gujarat killings Tuesday, May 15, 2007
NEW DELHI: The Indian government must set up an impartial probe into at least 31 killings by police in western Gujarat state, rights group Amnesty International said Monday.
The Gujarat government has come under fire since admitting in the Supreme Court last month that a Muslim man was killed by police in a staged gunbattle. It has emerged that the man’s wife was also killed, apparently as part of a bid to destroy evidence in the case.
Amnesty said it believed at least 31 people - including “so-called terrorist suspects” - had been unlawfully killed by police in Gujarat since 2002. “Investigations are a critical factor in the prevention of further unlawful killings,” the rights body said in a statement. afp
Hindustan has reduced itself to the level of a Mod Edit (in my opinion) that the majority Hindus would go around killing their own Muslim people from the minorities just to get international attention!
That is just sickening. Why can’t the governments in Hindustan be just a little bit civilised?
For your kind information, the judicial process is on in full swing. Senior policemen have been arrested and the case is being handled by a very senior officer whose integrity is above board.
While most of the posters here are feeling sad for the extra judicial killings we would have to remember that the victims were not victims in the true sense of the term. This guy who was killed was a common criminal who used to regularly extort money from businessmen.
I am also surprised that a communal angle is being given to the whole issue. The assistant of the extortionist, a hindu was also killed. Why is the press not highlighting this. Why is it that people are talking just about the muslim while they are turning a blind eye to the hindu also being killed.
Hindustan is a civilised nation. We dont have to kill innocent people to garner international attention. That is something our western neighbour is more adept at.

What about his wife who was allegedly raped before she was killed and burnt? And didn't Indian officials/media call the victims Pak backed Muslim terrorists? Who was trying to garner international attention and giving communal angle to the issue when Indian police was killing 'Muslim terrorists'?

Extra judicial killings are not fun. The police needed an excuse and used the oft repeated term thats it...
blatant flaming/off topic posts have been removed. if you want to discuss what amnesty is demanding without bringing in caste lynchings and Pakistan do so.
