did your dad ever been to layari?
actually it is true, the poverty in india is outrageous comapred to poverty in pakistan.
Myriads of people in India work long hours and make less than a $1.oo. Although india's economy has improved over the years and although poverty has seen a reduction, the country's economy still doesn't generate enough to feed its poor. According to a Wikepida report on India's poverty, it has the highest rate of malnutrition in children under the age of three than any other country in the world (2007).
What Amitabh needs to understand is that the SLUMS are not the ONLY side to India. But turning a blind eye toward them doesn't mean that these SLUMS and the abject poverty that its inhabitants are living in on a daily basis is going to DISAPPEAR. If the world does not become educated on the poverty in India, then how can the problem be solved? I've read that Danny Boyle, director of Slumdog, has planned to give money in charity to the slums. Perhaps this noble action might encourage other people to contribute of their wealth as well.
In my opinion Amitabh is only thinking of the NEGATIVE. The slum dwellers deserve attention. How can they be helped if nobody bring their plight to light? That would be unfair to them.
AND if Amitabh is SOOOO ASHAMED about the REST OF THE WORLD STEROTYPING INDIA as a SLUMMY NATION...................THEN PERHAPS HE SHOULD INVITE THE REST OF THE WORLD TO VIEW THE MAJORITY OF FLOP MOVIES GENERATED BY BOLLYWOOD in which you see **middle-to-upper class **heroes and heroines living in fancy houses, attending colleges, partying in night clubs, taking exotic vacations, and lip syncing their love for each other while dancing around the trees in their fancy designer clothes.
Oh wait a minute........Bollywood the 2nd leading entertainment industry in the world, who spews out more films per year than Hollywood.....already produces MORE THAN ENOUGH of these movies in which the more wealthier side of India is shown. So I don't think the world is DEPRIVED of seeing the cleaner and more developed and modern side of India. In fact, the way I see it, movies like Slumdog, are RARE and display a reality. A breath of fresh air from rehashed unrealistic love stories where hero/heroine shamelessly bust out moves in public.......and then all these SUPPORTING DANCERS.....come out of NOWHERE and dance with them.
Amitabh is bitter. He needs to concentrate his time on teaching Aishwarya how to act more realistically than blogging away his bitterness!
Re: Amitabh Bachchan rubbishes Slumdog Millionaire
I agree with Amithab Bachchan what he really ment to say is, it is a cliche of a movie, as a movie it is good but the subject of slum is a cliche.
