LAS VEGAS, US: Pakistani-origin British boxer Amir Khan defeated Luis Collazo of the US to claim the welterweight title in Las Vegas, ARY news reported Sunday.
Khan won by unanimous decision with judges scoring 117-106 119-104 119-104 in favour of the Briton who is king of the ring once again and and now owns the WBC’s “Silver” welterweight belt.
Khan was down after getting a low blow as the boxers clinch. Collazo came out swinging. Soon, Khan unleashed a combination before covering up in defence. Collazo tried to counter with his lefts but Khan managed to keep him at bay and land punches of his own.
“This is the first time I spent a good amount of time with Virgil,” Khan said, grinning through swollen lips, and dabbing at minor wounds around his left eye. “He was very awkward. It was a great thing to have a one-year lay-off. Collazo has only lost close fights, but I beat him convincingly tonight.”

Amir khan had a lot to prove in this fight. He was under a lot of pressure, but he stuck to the game plan and fought a smart tactical fight. Congratulations to Amir Khan on a great win against the tough veteran Luis Collazo.
He did stick to the game plan but over exerted himself in the first few rounds and lost momentum from there a little. He can't do that against Mayweather who. Maidana made that mistake against Mayweather. By the 7th round Mayweather was all over him.

Great performance. Mayweather would still win but Amir can cause him problems. I still worry about his discipline. A couple of good wins and he loses his composure. He needs to start calmly against Floyd and then up his tempo, other it will be very hard.
