Amika Hair Straightener

I’ve recently been on the search for a hair straightener, and have looked up various brands especially those that have been mentioned in previous posts. One of my friends bought a straightener from Amika, which used to be sold in kiosks at different malls around Toronto. They would be the ones with somewhat annoying sales people asking if they could show you their products on your hair. But the issue I’m having now, is that apparently those kiosks have disappeared and the company is no longer there.

Does anyone know where these kiosks or straighteners could be found, as in which mall? I know I could always buy them online on ebay or amazon, but I would just like to try them out beforehand. Eaton Centre used to have them, but it no longer does.

Has anyone had experience with these straighteners? My friend did say they work really well. Or if you have another brand that is worthy of mentioning, please do so as long as they try not to break the bank

Re: Amika Hair Straightener

I bought GHD's around 3 years ago and they're still amazing. Apparently they completely wreck your hair but since I hardly use them I don't mind, so if you're going to be using them occasionally and not everyday I'd recommend them. They cost around £100 at the time, I have no idea what the new model costs though.

Re: Amika Hair Straightener

If you don’t want to spend too much, then Remington. To be honest, I prefer them to GHD’s and so does my sister. I have fine hair that is naturally wavy but easily straightened and she has thick hair that requires more heat. I first tried GHD’s way back when they first came out and they worked way better than all the other brands back then. Also, £100 was a lot to drop back then, so I was deliberating when my friend told me she bought some Remington’s in an emergency and they turned out to be better than GHD for her. So I thought why not. Didn’t look back. Towards the end of last yr, my sister’s broke so I thought we should try GHD again (had a discount for ASOS) but they were the same, so we sent them back and I looked up what the newest Remington’s with good reviews was.

I also thought I’d do curls with the GHD but I’ve since found it’s easier, and I prefer the look of, using a curling wand. So I have two products but still well within the price of one GHD.

I have Amika and I love it.

Re: Amika Hair Straightener

Thanks for the info stoppit. Unfortunately neither amazon.com or amazon.co.uk ships to toronto. I'll have to see if I can get through a dept store. Have you tried the remington shine therapy or the frizz therapy straightener?

Re: Amika Hair Straightener

I use the Karmin G3 Salon Pro and it works amazingly, I've used different brands and this is by far the best...it has tourmaline ceramic plates which don't damage the hair like the others, it leaves my hair so soft, shiny and super straight, and if you like u can also make pretty curls with it :) :p
