Re: america's top 50 salaries

Say $180,000 which equals say about £90,000 after tax maybe £54,000.

Re: america’s top 50 salaries

Im number 35…at least its not stressful or affect my family life etc…like the 34 above me :halo: so im happy with being number 35

also some of the others such as surgeons etc require alot of time to get there at the top.

and I myself know many “lawyers” who are without a job cuz its so competitive. so other factors need to be considered too.

Re: america’s top 50 salaries

perhaps this is the case in the UK…not in the USA. Getting a job here is not the issue…it’s how good you are as a lawyer which determines how far you’re gonna get and how much you are going to get paid.

The nice thing about law…a lot of women take time off from their career to tend to the family and they go back to work in their 40s and are still quite successful at what they do…im not sure if this is the same with other fields.

Re: america's top 50 salaries

Some people look for more than a salary in their careers.

Re: america's top 50 salaries

very true......i didnt get into law for the salary to be honest. In fact, not all lawyers get paid that well..unless they are the best of the best. Im doing law cuz becoming a lawyer is rewarding for myself....but the salary (if i get that much)doesnt hurt either :D

Re: america’s top 50 salaries

hahahah  I guess not.

I was talking to my oldest sister the other day (She’s around your age) and I told her I wanted to get a job that I was interested in and enjoyed…most likely something to do with social justice and helping people…something that would really be satisfying in itself. She said that’s a good thought, but it’s not a good way to start out because I won’t be able to support myself with a low-paying job…and I told her it’s okay my husband will take care of all that :phati:

and then she got MAD at me and said that she couldn’t believe I was going to be so reliant on my husband and all that :hayaa:…She gave me like a 20-minute lecture on how women should be more active with the financial issues in the house and you should know where all the money is coming from and going and pata nahi kya :hayaa:

(she’s a finance major :hehe: )

Re: america's top 50 salaries

Hard work never hurt anyone ...........But why take the risk :D

Re: america’s top 50 salaries

Re: america’s top 50 salaries

She’s right! Also you should know how to stand on your own two feet in the event that something (Allah forbid) happens to your husband (ie death, divorce, paralyzed etc) and he is no longer able to support you.
