"America's Number One Enemy"

It’s pretty sad, with everything going on in the world, just one more man doing his bit to spread hatred. i feel sorry for him more than anything else. His type of hatred, perhaps, stems from the same source as bin Laden’s hatred for nonMuslims.

Why do humans tend to demonize something which we ourselves fail to make the effort to comprehend.

Pastor defends anti-Islam message on church sign, 11 September 2003

AVON, Ind. — The Rev. Marc Monte defended his decision to place his Sept. 7 sermon topic, “Islam: America’s Number One Enemy,” on his church sign, saying he meant to provide needed information, not a message of hate.

The Indianapolis Star reported that Monte, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, said the message contained information the public does not get from the media and many religious leaders.

“I want to stir up interest, not alarm, but Islam is a false religion, dangerous and hate-promoting,” said Monte.

“If I were a pastor who read KKK literature or Hitler’s ‘Mein Kampf,’ I would hope the members of my church would head to other churches. It is awful stuff. I repudiate it, and I put Islam in the same camp.”

Not everyone shared his sentiment, however.

“To call Islam an ‘enemy’ seems to be a message of hate,” said Susan Jones, who works in Avon and passes the marquee twice a day. “It is just arrogant and ignorant, and I can’t get past it. It is disheartening that a pastor, a pillar of the community, would be preaching this.”

Should we call them terrorist?

Sorry, but why does that matter what we call them? We can call this pastor whatever our heart desires, point is that is not going to change his perceptions of Islam and/or make him feel that the contents of the sign are spreading hatred.

Maybe to some, he is a terrorist. IMHO, i could very well be absolutely wrong but i think the more important issue is more along the lines of why he thinks that way and what should be done in that city to initiate some interfaith dialogue.

Yes, I must add that not Muslims but the ideology of Islam is enemy of world peace.

(Pls have courage when someone talks so open. There must be a reason.)

really???? and u think christian & jews r peace lovers?......blair, bush, sharon, hitler, ....think & think hard....who r they? ...muslim???i don't think so....they are christian & Jews ....Israel , USA & britan are the real enemies of peace.... Islam means peace........the real enemies of peace are people like u who have nothing else to do in life but to spread propagandas and fasle information against The only true religion ISLAM....i hope God forgive u by doing this....

Yahudi,

In my books... you and this Pastor are one and the same.

nadia, 99% of the americans dont even goto church, so u need not worry.

what i was tryign to say in my clumsy way is that any country ,person or policy which even slightly refers to America as enemy is declared a terrorist but this church will get away with such a retarded statement because its in America.
As for yahudi , the poor guy is a sorry case.

Wise One,

Sorry that was my fault for not understanding your earlier comments. i apologize.

Spock,

But that's not directly the point (IMHO). People will still be driving past the church and they'll read the sign won't they. It still spreads hatred, that's the purpose of the sign. i don't see any other reason for the Pastor putting it up there except to increase hatred and mistrust...which is not really conducive particularly in the US at this time.

Nadia, such things would only make them hate the church more, and that 99% would change to a 100%. I mean if I come to this forum and for no reason start announcing ‘nadia is evil, hate nadia because shes the cause of all problems here’ and all, everyone would instead start hating me, because they think rationally (even though I know there would be some creeps who would still support me :hehe: )

Mr. Spock,

It would be nice if everybody would think like you but thats not the case. Some of the people in US (not all of them) can easily be misguided. Media is doing that for a long time. This pastor may not be influencing not a very large audience but still some of the people in his surroundings would surely be effected in a negative way by his hate mongering.

What a sad thing to do. I'm afraid many people will definitely be badly influenced by this.

In what category you may put up Bin Laden? Muslim or Kufr?

It’s a direct question to the scholars/ defenders of Islam.

With all due respect to yourself, Yahudi, that has nothing to do with the topic i wish to discuss, thank you. Please open up a new thread on this topic. i would really appreciate it.

Spock, If you did that in this Forum then i think you would definitely find more individuals who would agree rather than disagree with you.

:( i know. i hope not.

There will always be people who’d hate you Nadia…In this world, It is impossible to please everyone…Take my word for it…There will always, always be people who will find one way or another to hate you…

If you know someone who pleased everyone he came into contact with, please introduce him to me…It would be a privilege for me to meet him…

The number of converts to Islam has doubled since 9/11…And we have all the thanks to give to American media…The Holy Quran was the number one best seller for many, many months to come…All due to the exposure given to Islam…Some out of hate, and some out of curiosity…

I remember the incidence of the guy who was driving in California after 9/11 desperate for answers, started studying the Holy Quran…A few days before 9/11 he was thinking of killing himself…Reading the Quran shook him up inside…He was driving and he was crying when he prayed if there is an Allah, show me a sign right now or I crash the car…Just then a car passed him by with the number plates “ALLAH 4 U”…He said Shahada right there…

I believe the pastor is doing us a great service…His message of hate will not sink in fertile hearts…People will become curious and ultimately will be drawn to the True Light like parwanays to a lamp…InshAllah…

So there is nothing to be worried about there…It’s not like he’s coming after us to kill us or something…Let him have his say and do our work for us…

Remember, Allah :swt: can guide people from the strangest things…

The Japanese had a saying:

"You can find wisdom even in siht, all you need is to know how to look…

You have my support Spock…:k:

This question is directly related to the topic. There are definite reasons that a pastor has reached to such an understanding.
The maximum of Islamic media and Muslims at large have defended or protected the thesis of Bin Laden, while propagating a peaceful nature of Islam.
I have a right to challenge this psychology. Nadia, ‘people like you are afraid of exposures’.

In what category you may put up Bin Laden? Muslim or Kufr?

It’s a direct question to the scholars/ defenders of Islam.

Whoops!!! :smack:
