Re: Americans raped Iraqi girls in Abu Gharib prison
^he didn't say it was OK to kill someone for honour! And of course it's WRONG to kill for honour, unless you kill yourself but that's a whole 'nother discussion.
"Every army in the world did this, Muslim, Hindu, Christian. Nothing new."
So? Wrong is wrong, doesn't matter whether it is "new" or not. This is happening in OUR time, why should we shut our eyes to this. Those rapists need to be exposed, over and over again, for as long as it takes, until it SHAMES them and their families!! They deserved to be dragged through hell for what they did. This goes for all rapists and war criminals.
Reporting on rape crimes done by US soldiers is not something that's done very often! So exposing this truth IS actually "something new".
Re: Americans raped Iraqi girls in Abu Gharib prison
^ Very well said.
As a Muslim recently i met a man who was an Orthodox Christian from Greece.
I met him in Pakistan near Sukkur (at that time the barrage was hoped to have stopped the flood) He was there with a Greek medical agency.
We got talking about all the horrors in our past and about the horrors that go on today...
He was particular about the Kosovo war and admitted that the Serbs had shamed the name of Christ, i also told him the actions of many Like Tamerlane and even some Ottomans against Greeks were just as unfortunate and that deep down as humans we are all united against evil.
In every man theres a saint and a devil and thats the place where the real battle is... as a martial spirited Muslim man it was an eye opening experience to sit with a Christian Greek man and discuss our shared history.
When we first met it was in mutual respect for the other but by the time we parted we were good friends.
Bad things happen but we should as Jetaime said keep reporting it till the perpetrators have nowhere to hide.
Besides it's actions like this that ruin humanity for i have no doubt that this sort of thing is the work of Satan.
Re: Americans raped Iraqi girls in Abu Gharib prison
^ good points Faris and Jetaime
God everybody is talking about the rape and nobody is even commenting on the fact that some of these victims were killed by the families because of shame. I really dont understand this mentality...
It is not OK to rape somebody while it is OK to kill somebody for honour...
a so called honour killing aka excuse for a cold blooded murder.

when you search 'honour killings' on GS, you get 95 hits, plenty of 'commenting' on this topic, putting down this barbaric practice and the brutality of this act. discussing one evil doesn't make another less reprehensible, so quit derailing.
Re: Americans raped Iraqi girls in Abu Gharib prison
you almost seem desirous of iraqi women having been raped.
you have taken a random bit of an article about honor killings in which the author spoke to a jordanian journalist who spoke to a random women who claims to have witnessed these rapes.

there is a reason why it's not a story.
so you are claiming rapes didn't occur in Iraq by coalition forces?

no, i am not. there are documented cases of rape and surely there would also be a number of additional undocumented cases (proportionate to a large scale war involving a first-world military).
with that said, there is nothing newsworthy let alone "biggest story of the century" about the quoted text in the original post.
