American Television

It was going pretty good with talented people like Tina Fey and her 30 Rock, a spin-off by an SNL graduate Parks and Recreation and other sorts of serials.

But now looks like there is another lul. Some of the stuff on tv is r-i-d-i-c-u-l-o-u-s

Alice in Arabia was dropped by ABC… That would have generated some interesting discussions.

Re: American Television

The days of Wonder Years and Thirty Something are long gone. Bill Moyer( on Sundays) is good.

Re: American Television

I’d say it’s still going strong as we just had an oscar winner (Matthew McConaughey) star in a great TV show (True Detective), while Kevin Spacey is creeping us all out in House of Cards. That’s a far cry from George Clooney never looking back after ER.

The last 10 years have been considered the golden age of TV. The Wire, The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Six Feet Under, Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, Lost, The Shield, Friday Night Lights, Sons of Anarchy. Granted not all of these shows are on the same level but compared to TV in the 90’s, they’re on another level, all kicked off in '99 by our favourite mobster with a shrink.

^truth

Re: American Television

Haven’t watched any of the shows listed by the honorable gentleman. Sopranos I hear was good.

How I Met ur mother is good comrdy

Re: American Television

Ghost delivers.

Re: American Television

Ghost watches a lot of TV.

Re: American Television

Major network television shows are mostly lame. With a few notable exceptions. They’re more concentrated on reality-shows. The good stuff is on the cable networks. Not that it matters where it airs first. It’s all available on Hulu/Netflix anyways.

American Television

Exactly what ghost said! Breaking Bad had me in a depression when it was over. House of Cards is crazy insane good! Downtown Abby is good too. Heard a lot about the Game of Thrones and Walking Dead. That new Robin Williams show is cute. Mad Men is pretty good too, never really was intrigued by the 60s till now.

Re: American Television

Its true they have a lot of focus on reality shows. However AMC stays away from them and keeps on hitting spot on with walking dead and mad men’s last season coming up in April.
What is Downtown Abby about btw?

Re: American Television

walking dead is really bizarre

Re: American Television

you must be kidding. Only season 2 was awful cuz it was slow. Its a hit

Re: American Television

i dont get it
zombies everywhere

Re: American Television

If you thought season 2 was slow, then god help you for the razor slashing habit that you will pick up for this season.

Re: American Television

The Good Wife & The Mentalist both are interesting. Although The Mentalist lost its edge after Red John got discovered.

Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Mad Men, Sopranos are all in a class of their own. It will be a while before we see anything as compelling as those.

Never watched it, but I hear Homeland is good too.

Re: American Television

When I finished watching Mad Men season 1, I was like, can anything in the world beat it? I was shockingly impressed especially its dialogues as its really well written. But I think I lost it in season five. Its coming back april 13th as the finale. Cant wait!!

Re: American Television

Every serial these days is so “made up”

Re: American Television

The Newsroom is pretty nice

Re: American Television

Watch the earlier seasons like 1 which are good.

I guess that it isn’t a spoiler but Brody is dead. I don’t know what Homeland would do with that now as Carrie is going to turkey on CIA post; I seriously think that they should have ended it last year with brody’s death as closure was right there for the series, but noooo they have to milk it..
