You also know Iranians sorry Mehdi army pierced a Challenger II. This tank has he best armour protection of any. So which tank is safe to double charges on same reactive armour cell?

and what was the second thing (looked like a petrol/diesel can or something) that guy kept below the tank?...For me it looks like that smoke and fire was created by that petrol can more than by tank catching fire.
But still i think that tank should be damaged badly as the explosion took place beneath it where APC or any tank for that matter has less protection(as far as i know).

Hezbollah took out dozens of israeli merkavas in last summer’s war and they are supposed to be the most armoured tanks in the world!! I mean look at the beast when it rolls… 
Though part of it as some analysts was due to the fact that kanjoos yahoodi didn’t put in the enigma upgrade for their tanks lol. Even in Iraq, the supposedly iranian provided charges that throw molten copper when they explode are taking out the best armour that the US has. The US pride, the Strykers, that withstand RPGs and even roadside bombs, can’t take on these babies. The US is in a serous quandry right now on how to deal with it.

Shaped charges are nothing new, been used for over a hundred years. reactive armour works by exploding, the explosion repels the copper. Hezbullah used some new missile which had a double charge, first to discharge the armour and then penetrate. That was what took the Israelis by surprise. BTW their tank is not the most armoured, it is easy to escape from.

Tanks and APCs are not invincible but they do provide a measure of survivability for the crew. Unlike in Pakistan, where soldiers are sent out in pick up trucks to be blown up very easily.

I disagree! Can you tell me whose tank is more armored than theirs? Israel doesn't have that depth into it so anything they design has to be the best in offensive and safety. Even the new f16s they bought, they took our the dual seats and fitted the latest E/W suites in there for surveillance and stop anyone from jamming their aircraft as best as they could.
Khehkeshan, how do you plan on deploying tanks to Wana? A lot of our soldiers have died because they didn't have the proper vests on their bodies. Seriously, the shalwar kamiz chappal routine of FC doesn't cut it lol. The only other option is deploying fast moving armored APCs along with helicopters that Russians did and now NATO does as well in Afghanistan. Though I don't know how many helicopters Pakistan army can spare from its limited supply to exclusively be deployed to waziristan etc. I think US has given us mostly refurbished hueys which weren't that great in vietnam themselves. For example, Viet Cong used to easily shoot through the aluminum underpanel of the choppers which seriously disabled helo pilots and crew in Vietnam.

shriek11, even a light APC would be better than an open suzuki type vehicle. Right now, the soldiers don't even have any protection from shrapnel. And yes, they need bullet proof vests and helmets, which majority don't have. And good quality vests with kevlar and ceramic plates to protect against bombs. No point in wasting money on F-16's that will never see combat.

Like I said, we only spend 4 Billion Dollars on our Military which is peanuts....
Iran spends around 11 Billion.
Our Defense Budget needs to be around 10 Billion.
For that to happen our economy needs to grow and more privatization needs to occur which frees up the government revenues to spend on other things such as civil servants, infrastructure and the military.

Then cut the number of standing army and most of all, eliminate the corruption [land deals, corporations]. The Pakistan armed forces need to be a lot more accountable on how they spend their money.
Risc, do you even know that why the israelis put the escape door at the back? If you apply logic then you can assume that the tank is very armored in the front. Though it might not work in a guerrilla, urban warfare type situation [if someone can hit it from the back poof] but then tanks aren't tailor made for city combat as americans have found out in Iraq.

Well this is no tank - it's a M2 Bradley Armoured Personnel Carrier. Those aren't well armoured at all compared to most things on the modern battlefield.

Are you stupid? how would having a massive target, with minmal armour at back, where the tank crew is = better protection. MAYBE it's you who doesn't quite understand the whole idea of armour protection - increase survivability.
BTW Einstein the reason they put the door at the back which still aint figured out is so soldiers can quickly escape. Israel highly value it' soldiers, not that many of them hard to replace. They would much rather have bust easily replaceable tanks than crew going down. So yes I do know why. Do you?

No it was double charge war heads. Fist set's of the armour and second penetrates. As the video shows it's pretty silly trying to use steel to protect yourself from shaped charges hence the British built reactive armour. Bit hard trying to hit the same cell of armour with two missiles don't you think?
