american substitute of fresh cream

when i was in pakistan , life was relatively simple when a recipe called for cream. can someone please tell me what can i use in place of that here? (half& half , single, double, heavy, whipped,unwhipped or whipping?)
making bernaise sauce btw!

The kind of creams you mentioned are different version of cream available here in the US. You can choose any kind depending on what you are making. Half is half is heavy milk usually used for making coffee or tea. I suggest for cooking you can buy, single, double or heavy creams. Just whatever you prefer. Leave whipped kind for desserts I say.

There is so much variety of things here, you'll be amazed. Cooking is fun with all the options available here. Just the matter of finding what you prefer.
