We all know how North Korea has time and again violated the violateable UN and defied its veto-yielding members.
Last year, we were hopeful that with all big wigs sitting at a round table with North Korea, we will see peace in the peninsula and North Korea would give up its Nuclear ambitions which pose a grave danger to the free world.
This year has brought us back to a deadlock and perhaps two steps back from where we stood last year. North Korea has since successfully tested missiles, restarted its Nuclear Program, and ditched all offers and efforts which were previously made.
But, the cause of worry has been the rather lack of noise from White House over North Korea’s continued defiance especially considering that it possesses Nuclear Technology unlike its brethren in the coined “Axis of Evil” Iran, which has yet to acquire the ability.
American silence should worry us all, because it exposes a flaw in our Foreign Diplomacy and priorities. The cause seems to be since North Korea does not possess Oil or Natural Gas, and is far from Isreal, hence it is not as much a priority for American Think Tanks as Iran which not only has rich resources, but is much closer to American raw nerve, Israel. Are American policies being dictated by Tel Aviv?
A time when Obama Administration should be focused on North Korea and the tipping point of what could very well be a conflict, we find our “trusted” news pundits and media spin-men filling us in on everything happening in Iran. Surely, we must have our confused our priorities to a Global danger vs. a regional inconvenience.
I believe this double-standard of foreign policies will come back to haunt U.S.A. The threat facing the world is not Iran, but rather Far East. We will be dumbfounded if we as American do not get our priorities straight, and the time is running out for us to direct our energies in the right direction and stop the boogeyman false-chase which has led us to deficits.
What is your stance on the American silence when it comes to North Korea? Is the response from White House, or lack thereof justified? Or do you believe enough has been done and/or is being done and there is no need for escalation of authoritive rhetoric as would be heard when dealing with Iran?
