American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).

I had not heard of this org till today. Today’s Bill Moyer show addressed the incestuous relationshio between thisxnot for profit organization, big corporations and state legislators. The big corporations and 67% of state Republican legislatilors are members of ALEC.

Re: American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).

The official mission of this charity organization is to educate. Big corporations can freely spend money to entertain state legislators without declaring this as a lobbying activity. They "educate" these legislators and " help" write measures that would help their company. Big tobacco is an example. Big Pharmacy has been successful in helping to write Tort reform legislation that would prevent victims family from suing drug companies. Bail and bonds companies influence legislator write legislation to give them sweet deals - all in the name of preventing prison overcrowded.

The program began by stating - if you think all the action is in the Presidential and Congress elections - look further. Look at what is happening at the state level.

Any errors here are due to my recollection of program w/o taking notes.
