For a century or more, cockroaches were suspected of spreading disease, and for the first time some definite proof was being accumulated. Dr. T. A. Olson of the University of Minnesota School of Public Health reported in 1949 that cockroaches harbored one form of food-poisoning bacteria known as Salmonella and that the roaches deposited these bacteria with their excreta. The bacteria thus deposited was able to remain active for at least one month.etc etc etc…
