So, you guys are from all over the place. If you’re living in America, can you give some feedback about the Pakistani community where you live or in a place you’ve visited. Like “Ok, I live in Manhattan, and this is how the Pakistanis are in Coney Island”.
Please be descriptive. Like is there a lot of intermingling between opposite sexes, is the environment very religious or restrictive? Are the people generally friendly? Do you guys have meeting centers, or mosques where you can get to know people? Are the Pakistanis of a more educated or less educated breed? Condensed with a certain subethnicity? Any local Paki or desi organizations?

i'm in Lucknow, Canada...its a very small community hence very cohesive, no usual politics, no back-biting, no show offs. most pakistani families [mostly Punjabis] and only one indian muslim family [thats us] have strong bondage. life here is enjoyable. people are courteous and we have a healthy social get togethers in a masjid which is a rented house that also surrogates as a community hall. we are happy muslims here, alHamdolillah :)
I am in AZ and it has a medium size muslim community, from last 10 years it has grown a lot.At first we use to have 2 or 3 resturants but now there are 5 or 4 pakistani resturants. Arabs are a lot here some Somalians too. Where I live right now mostly Pakistanis and indiam muslims live here. They are mostly engineers like civil, computer, electrical etc. or doctors. Most taxi drivers are Somalians. But I really like the community .And now there are atleast 15 mosques here. And one community is bussiness class :D of course they have gas stations and resturants. We need those people to eat out.Its not a large community like brooklyn or Chicago or LA but still good.:)

There are only 210, 245 pakistanis living in USA. I don’t know how accurate these stats are but i was assuming that there were a lot more pakistanis in USA
However, there are over 950,000 pakistanis living in UK

may be tehy are only interested in political ones.
i never visted ISNA or ICNA conventions. the only place i religious gathering i usually go to is Eid Prayers. even for that i have to convince my folks.
They are probably in the ballpark since the desi population in America is concentrated in a few places, chiefly the states of New York and New Jersey and a few metropolitan areas elsewhere (Chicago, Houston, DC, LA). If you go to Iowa or Utah there are almost none there. This explains the discrepancy between what people see when they go/live in places like NJ and the national numbers.
