Is the girls name Amelia of muslim or arabic origin? I have seen it listed on some websites as a muslim name but am unsure. Thanks

^ its definitely not of arabic origin. behindthename.com says it is a variant of amalia which is:

Latinized form of the Germanic name Amala, a short form of names beginning with the element amal meaning “work”.

i also found a hebrew meaning for it: work of the Lord.

thanks somegroovychick, I had seen it listed on some muslim websites but it doesn't look like we will be able to use it if it doesn't have arabic/persian origin..the search continues for some girls names!
