Nawabshah—At least seven persons were killed and more than 25 others injured when unknown gunmen on motorcycles and cars attacked a passenger bus here at the National Highway on Friday.
According to police, about 15 culprits riding motorcycles and cars ambushed a Kohat bound passenger bus coming from Karachi in Ren Shakh area of tehsil Qazi Ahmed of Nawabshah.
The driver of the bus lost control of the vehicle after the firing and it fell in empty place by roadside. The gunmen sprayed bullets on the bus from two sides and fled the scene after the incident.
As a result of firing seven persons including driver, were killed on the spot while about 25 others sustained injuries. The dead were identified as Abdul Majeed, his son Arsalan Majeed, Shehzad Hussain, Qabil Khan, Samiullah, Gul Reb and Mukhbir Khan.
**The Sindu Desh Liberation Army has claimed responsibility for the killings. Pamphlets of the outfit were found at the scene of the killings in which it claimed responsibility for the killings.
Heavy contingent of police reached the scene after the incident and cordoned off the area but the attackers managed to escape. It merits mentioning here that two persons boarded in the bus at Sakrand and said their other companions will also join them in Ren Shakh area. But when the bus stopped there, the miscreants on motorcycles opened fire on the bus. The Sindu Desh Liberation Army is known for its sabotage acts in Nawabshah, the native town of President Asif Ali Zardari.
