Ambassador forced to leave physicians’ function

Why am I not surprised that you are coming to the defence of jihadi wannabe hypocrites.

Four things that emulate the pattern of our supergenius democratic minds:

have violent intentions
refused to even hear disagreements
f*ck the law: attack anyone and everyone in your path
lose interest and break into groups

We have the most amazing democracy in the world. Mashallah. May tay sadqay jawan. :)

From what I hear, it was actually a gathering of 25 people. The rest were security staff and pakistani students on med school visa: basically the oppressed elitists. i lolled hard. :)

LOL, so true :hehe:

Re: Ambassador forced to leave physicians’ function

its in poor taste to get involed in slanging matches..while it probably accurately reflects the mood in the middle classes..there are better ways of putting ones point across. Haqqanis alleged reply was pretty silly too...

Re: Ambassador forced to leave physicians’ function

This APPNA conference was a big joke. This is the behavior that some on this thread are lionizing as some great display of heroism.

Rumpus takes centre stage at Pakistani meeting in New York

  • Justice Wajiuddin delivers speech describing PPP constitutional package ‘shameful’, criticises abilities of federal law minister
  • Speech interrupted by heckling from PPP supporters
  • Pakistan embassy spokesman contradicts ‘inaccurate’ media report of weekend’s doctors’ conference
  • Stresses heckling did not force US diplomatic security guard intervention

By Khalid Hasan

WASHINGTON: Washington was not the only venue of a Pakistani gathering where a vocal section of the audience refused to listen to those they disagreed with, since the same scene was repeated in New York on Sunday when Justice Wajiuddin Ahmed was heckled by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) supporters for his criticism of the constitutional package and the federal law minister.

Constitutional Package:

The retired judge was critical of the PPP stance on the restoration of the judges at the meeting held in Brooklyn, known as “Little Pakistan”, and he questioned the abilities of Federal Law Minister Farooq Naik. He called the constitutional package introduced by the ruling party as “shameful”, adding, “I could not believe my eyes when I read it.” **As he said that, party supporters rose from their seats and began to scream slogans against the judge and in favour of their party and its late leader. They also accused the judge of making a political speech. The organisers’ attempts to pacify those creating a rumpus floundered when Wajiuddin asked the protesters to sit down and listen to him. This proved to be counter-productive as rival groups got into a shouting match, creating near chaos. At this stage, Aitzaz Ahsan took the stage to lead a chorus of “jeeay Bhutto” slogans that seemed to bring about a degree of calm. **Wajihuddin then resumed his speech, emphasising that the people of Pakistan were united in their demand for an independent judiciary and the return of the dismissed judges, led by Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

Doctors’ conference:

Meanwhile, a spokesman of the Pakistan embassy on Monday took exception to what he described as an inaccurate report of the final day of the doctors’ conference appearing in an English language Pakistani daily (not Daily Times). The report said that because of the rumpus created at the meeting, US diplomatic security guards were forced to intervene, coming to the stage to “save the Pakistani ambassador from angry Pakistanis” and taking him away.
The embassy statement said that the ambassador left for a prior engagement 40 minutes after delivering his speech and was “not forced to leave, as erroneously reported.” The ambassador sat through the speech of Aitzaz Ahsan who spoke after him and stayed for part of the question and answer session that followed, the embassy added.
The statement said, “Mr Haqqani did have an altercation with some members of the audience and a section of the audience that disrupted speeches by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Farooq Sattar and Justice (r) Wajihuddin also attempted to disrupt the ambassador’s response to a question. His speech earlier was, however, heard without interruption.** Slogans were shouted against the ambassador by supporters of a religious political party and other backers of the pro-judiciary movement who refused to hear his call for tolerance towards all points of view.”** According to the spokesman, Haqqani said that he would not yield on the subject of tolerance that is essential to protect Pakistan’s fledgling democracy and the lack of which was destroying the country’s image abroad. He also opposed some epithets against the president of Pakistan and PPP co-chairman, saying that as Pakistan’s representative he could not allow any Pakistani leader to be publicly abused in a foreign capital. “The organisers from the podium apologised to the ambassador for the heckling before he left, as scheduled and announced at the beginning of the event. Hotel Security - and not diplomatic security - accompanied the ambassador to the hotel’s front entrance as a courtesy as they did with Congressman Keith Ellison who was also not allowed to speak by the pro-lawyers movement segment of the crowd. Many members of the audience condemned the behaviour of the trouble-makers while leaders of the religious party concerned disowned their unruly members in subsequent statements to the Pakistani media,” the embassy statement said. (Typical jamaati/jihadi tactic to disavow their own wrongdoing)

Re: Ambassador forced to leave physicians’ function

haqqani ko do jootay laganay chaye the! Passports! huh

Chittrol is popular demand these days for boot lickers. Look what happened to PMLQ in bye elections :)

Re: Ambassador forced to leave physicians’ function

Farooq Sattar is due for another chitrool too!

:k:

Totally…totally agree with you…thanks for opening my eyes KK bhaijan…

Appna doctors are all Punjabis and jihadis…in addition to them Mr. Fukhrudin G Ibrahim, Mr. Wajihuddin, Mr. Saeed ua Zaman Siddique and millions of mohajirs who oppose MQM/Mush are also Punjabi Jihadis…everyone opposed to MQM/Mush is a punjabi Jihadi…these are all terrorist…89% of Pakistanis who are in favour of rule of law in the country and who are supporters of restoration of judiciary are all Punjabi Jihadis…the only solution now left to for this terrorist country is to wipe out the entire population with nuclear devices…and as far as Mush supporters are concerned it is not a big problem…a C 130 may be sent to evacuate them from this terrorist country prior to this proposed nuclear attack…

This is general mood in the country & these people are just like everybody else. They hate dictator & his supporters and sympathizers. If the tables were turned & if it was JI in bed with dictator (like in 80s) I'm sure they would've gotten similar reception.

As for you assertion that APPNA is in pocket of JI (or anyone else for that matter) is wishful thinking. These are highly educated people living in free country & they're not blindly following any pir shaaib, unlike thyself.

:omg:

Re: Ambassador forced to leave physicians’ function

Numerous articles have already mentioned that the event was full of jamaati jihadi hypocrites sitting in america calling Haqqani an "american agent". I know truth is bitter for some of you. I have known people with experience with APPNA. They have become a highly politicized group over the years, much like most other pakistani groups overseas. You can easily tell by the PPP, jamaati etc. slogans in this event. Feel free to deny the obvious as reported through news articles.

Heckling and hooliganism seem to be trademarks of this PML-N/Jamaat/Jihad movement.

Re: Ambassador forced to leave physicians’ function

^ Only the MQMers are saints, the rest of punjabiz, sindhis, baluchis and pathans are jihadiz right?

Re: Ambassador forced to leave physicians’ function

Are you saying the MQM is a jihadi party :hehe:

Re: Ambassador forced to leave physicians’ function

JI dissociates itself from disruption at Washington moot

**** Party leader Hafiz Salman Butt denies JI involvement, slams brief disruption to Haqqani’s speech as unseemly***

By Khalid Hasan

WASHINGTON: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Hafiz Salman Butt has disowned the attempt by a number of JI supporters and sympathisers to disrupt Pakistan’s Ambassador to United States Husain Haqqani’s address to a Pakistani-American doctors’ gathering here at the weekend.

He told Daily Times on Sunday that the disruption, brief though it was, was unseemly and did not involve the JI in any way. Butt was one of the leaders invited by the sponsors of the conference for the three-day event, which also featured Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ahsan Iqbal and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar.

Several people present at the gathering on Saturday described certain press and TV reports of what they called a bit of temporary disorder while Ambassador Husain Haqqani was speaking as “exaggerated” and “regrettable”.

Zaheer Sharaf, a member of PakPac, the political arm of the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent in North America (APPNA), told Daily Times on Sunday that the exchange between Ambassador Haqqani with a heckler lasted no more than a couple of minutes. The Pakistani envoy, who had been invited to speak on Pakistan-US relations, continued his speech and more than one person, including the hosts, later regretted the note of unnecessary unpleasantness introduced in a session devoted to a serious subject. “It was not a big incident that should have warranted the kind of coverage it was accorded by two of Pakistan’s TV channels, minutes after it happened, and a leading English daily,” Sharaf said.

Asked to recall exactly what had happened, Sharaf said it began with one Jamil Farooqi, said to be the son of old JI leader, Mahmood Azam Farooqi, who was a minister in the Ziaul Haq cabinet, stood up while Haqqani was speaking and appeared to be worked up because of the ambassador’s present position and his teenage membership of the student wing of the JI. The heckler also began to recite poetry, including the line “Sang-murmur pay challo gay to phisal jao gay” (If you walk on marble floors you will slip). Haqqani, who has few equals when it comes to reciting remembered poetry said, “I too can recite poetry but that does not solve anything.”

He said Pakistanis should be realistic and recognise that state-to-state relations are based on ground realities and not emotional slogans. Some of Farooqi’s friends in the audience saw that as a good occasion to raise slogans, one of them asking Haqqani to leave. However, Haqqani stood his ground and completed his address. The organisers regretted the brief and unpleasant interlude and the meeting remained in session to listen to other speakers, including Aitzaz Ahsan, after Haqqani had left for another appointment.

Sharaf said, “It is regrettable that while the ambassador was still speaking, someone reported that a “ribbon” was already running on one Pakistani TV channel giving a highly exaggerated and sensational account of what was no more than a blip on the screen.

He said it is a pity that Pakistani journalism, as practised by some, should have sunk to this level. Later in the day, a couple of 16 or so people demonstrated in front of the Pakistan embassy demanding the reinstatement of Pakistan’s sacked judges. Aitzaz Ahsan made a brief appearance on the scene and spoke for a few minutes.

Really?

So doesn't that make Farooq Sattar a bigger hypocrite by attending it? Since, according to you MQM is the only un-jihadi (though proven terrorist organization), then he should've been a man of principle and turned down the invitation. Moreover, he should've exposed this organization by calling them jihadi-minded political group. But he didn't.

Now you come here crying foul because he got booted, i could see you must be burning inside. Hypocracy at its worst!

How is Farooq Sattar supposed to know that this overseas organization has been hijacked by jamaatis? And why did APPNA even invite him if they did not want to listen to him? You should look up the definition of hypocrisy before actually using the word.

No Spock bhaijan...even millions of mohajirs and people like Fakhrudin G Ibrahim, Justice Wajih ud Din, and Justice Saeed uz Zaman Siddique are also jihadis...so the correct stament would be that a vast majority of the people of Pakistan including you, me, Mohajirs, Sindhis, Punjabis, Baluchis and Pathans belonging to every political party, or not belonging to any political party, or supporters of lawyers movement, or members of civil society, PPP supporters, PML N supporters, APDM supportes and everybody opposed to MQM/Mush are jihadis...only MQM/Musharraf supporters are not Jihadis...

Right KK bhaijan?
