90.1 Giles to Astle, one run, and he’s done it! one of the most amazing Test knocks you’re every likely to see, flighted up full down the leg side, swept down to fine leg, brings up his maiden Test double century from 153 balls, 27x4, 9x6 the fastest Test 200 in history, bliterating Adam Gilchrist’s
record of 212 balls, Astle’s last 100 taking just 39 balls, yes, that’s right, THIRTY NINE balls***
the on going test match between nz and england, though nz lost by 98 runz but astle had the chance to show his true potential as a batsman…
…a desperate attempt my nz to servive but unfortunately there wasn’t much left in terms of batting…

but 153 balls made me
*I assume you don't know, but Astle has *always* been an explosive bastman. Very little on technique, but when he gets going, not too many bowlers can stop him. He has been much more consistent in one day matches, but his Test record isn't bad either( The lack of a test match technique is holding him in down, in The Game's opinion). People, That Is All.*
1000 posts of excellence, have you shmucks finally seen what The People’s ARTIST is painting?
Brilliant innings by Astle but we all also have to look at the ground he played in was Christchurch, one of the smallest grounds in the world, but it was still amazing.
I think Gilchrist's 200 against South Africa was still a better performance.
