Alu Palak

aoa everyone…would anyone plz let me know how to make alu palak?..there r two problems..

1-i just boil and then grind it into a fine puree…it looks like a milk shake:-/ should we have to fine cut/chop and then cook or puree needs to be made?

2-i think for alu palak…the colours should be yellow for alu and green for palak..but my alu palak looks ““ever green””…i even add haldi but that makes the green colour bad…

Re: Alu Palak

I dont boil or puree the spinach.

This is my method: Just roughly chop the spinach. Fry onions with potato cubes and ginger garlic paste and add haldi towards the end. That will make the potatoes yellow. Add tomatoes in between. When they're almost cooked add spinach, chopped green chillies and red chiili powder and salt. You can add a tablespoonful of yogurt so the spinach retains its original color. Spinach doesnt need a lot of time to cook so 7-10 mins would be enough.

You should boil palak for 10-15 mins, and chop them after boiling.boil potatoes, and after that cut them into pieces.
Saute onions, add ginger-garlic paste, then add tomatoes, and the masalas.when this tomato mixture is ready, then add the potatoes, and the palak to it,and then cook over low heat for about 5-10 mins.

Re: Alu Palak

my recipe for aaloo palak is:

1st step - roughly chop palak and wash it properly. put it in a cooking utensil and add 1/4 glass of water, 2-3 green chillies and 1/2 tsp of haldi and let it boil until the water is completely dried. then let it cool down a bit n add it into the food factory n grind just for 2-3 sec..don't make a very fine puree. you can even freeze this purree so whenever u want to make palak it's easier for u.

2nd step- make masala: add oil, then 2-3 pieces of loung , a small piece of cinnamon stick and onions. fry until the onions r golden brown then add ginger n garlic paste, fry it a lil and add a bit of water then salt, coriander powder n chilli powder. add chopped tomatoes and cook it for 5 min until the tomatoes r mashed n the oil appears on them. Now u can add potatoes or even chicken and a bit of water n get them half cooked.

3rd step- add the roughly pureed palak. do'nt add water as palak releases it's own water..cook it a bit..when you see tht the aaloo/chicken is almost cooked..add 1/4 glass of milk ..yes milk.. it gives a very nice n creamy taste to palak.. cook it until the oil appears and in the end add 1tabsp of butter, pinch of garam masala and pinch of sabat zeera.

there u go..the yummy palak is ready :)

wow thankxx....i wud try it.:)
